Starting at 7pm (UK) time, £1000 ($1950) in prizes will be shared in a tournament that is free to enter. Registration starts at 8pm on Friday 2nd March. Demand is expected to be high, with a maximum of 512 entrants allowed. William Hill Skill Games does not require software to be downloaded. Please note, that following the passing of the UIGEA, William Hill (www.willhill.com) will NOT accept any US resident players. Good Luck William Hill e-Gaming Team
Game Account Just checked, then I remembered that it's just a Game Account skin. Damn, I thought there was another new site to play. Cheers Reachy
I just had a quick look This appears to be a portal into the GameAccount system, but presumably with some tournaments (such as this one) only available via William Hill. I tried my GA login and it was not valid, unlike at other portals I have come across. Could you confirm that existing GA customers are free to open Will Hill accounts. i.e - Is it allowed? Is it technically feasible, or might it cause problems?
I saw you! I just registered at William Hill, logged onto the tournaments and saw you playing. I did try and strike up a conversation but it said your connection was down ! Cheers Reachy
Not me, my ghost I'm not playing at the moment. GA have done a software 'upgrade' recently, and I've been having real trouble with it ever since. When I try to start a game I just get some weird error message or other and then the table sometimes persists for a while, after I've given up trying to get it to work. Not sure if it's just me, or a widespread issue. I haven't chased it up yet.
It's a little more than "just a GA skin", but the software is provided by GameAccount! You will need a William Hill account to enter the tournament, as it is exclusive. It does not matter if you have a GameAccount account already, but you can only have one instance of the lobby running at any time. Hopefully the William Hill variant... We also have a £50 Blackjack freeroll at 5pm today, tomorrow and Sunday that is free and exclusive for William Hill customers. London Colin, regarding your problem, you are correct that they have been updating their software. I suggest you delete your temporary internet files and if necessary install a new up to date version of flash. It sounds like you have an out of date version of the lobby in your cache. And it is recommended that Flash version 9 be installed. I would also strongly recommend opening a William Hill account!
Thanks Is the one lobby-instance limit per IP address or per computer? There's been some discussion on this site about the ethics of gaining multiple entries into the same event, via multiple accounts, and this would seem to offer that prospect. (And since the games are all heads-up, you could end up playing with yourself ) Customer Support at GA are looking into my problem. It does seem to be at least partially at their end, as we are going through a cycle of them tweaking the system and then getting me to log back in and see what has changed. Fingers crossed...
'little more than "just a GA skin"' Thanks for your response Bill, very informative. So apart from the exclusive WillHill tournaments, you and Game Account share the same player pool and same games? Cheers Reachy
You can only have one lobby open on each computer, so although it is possible have multiple entires, you can only actually play as one entry. Besides which, multiple entries aren't allowed under our T's and C's.... Regarding the question about players and games, GameAccount provide a range of games to several Sportsbooks. SportingBet and PaddyPower to name two. All partner companies contribute players to the rooms liquidity. It's the same as poker networks. For example William Hill Poker and Littlewoods Poker both share the Cryptologic network. Therefore when you play a game of blackjack with William Hill, your opponent could be from one of their other partners. However William Hill are their largest partner in terms of players. It is also important to note that at this time William Hill have only integrated the GA multi-player games. Most of their partners have several single player games as well. Moving forwards, you will see more exclusive freerolls and money added tournaments on William Hill as well as other promotions and new games, that should make us your preferred choice for all gaming. The same William Hill account can be used for sports betting, bingo, casino and poker.
All systems go I've created an account and it seems to be functioning normally, whereas my GA account is still out of action. I was slightly disappointed that I got a system-generated nickname, rather than one of my choosing, but apart from that it all looks fine. (Reachy, I'll be going by the name 'col080717', if our paths should cross. ) A short while later, and a few things to add ... Yippee! :1st: One tournament entered, one tournament won. A 100% record. I should stop now and retire undefeated. Cancel what I said about the nickname. I've found out how to change it. 6-9 characters only, so I'll have to be creative. A couple of things from GA that I can't find however - No 'My Tournaments' showing tournament results, only 'My Wagers' for 'cash games'. And no 'My Stats' showing the overall tables won/lost figures. Are these hiding somewhere or have they not been implemented?
Hi Colin The point about usernames is valid. Unforunately like any integration like this, there are always parts that are not ideal and this is one of them. It is something that we are working on. Thanks for the feedback on no "My tournaments" section, this will be raised with GameAccount. I see you have registered for tonights tournament then. Good Luck. And well done on yesterday's freeroll win. There will be more freerolls next week.
Messed up Well I opened an account with William Hill but could not get into the BJ tournament. After speaking to London Colin on the PM it looks like I have missed my chance of an entry tonight. Apparently the Queen has an account with William Hill and likes to have a flutter on the horses (I bet she could get on the game tonight). Anyway, good luck to London Colin and Reachy on tonight’s tournament. PS If the Queen is playing could you apologise for my absence and pass on my sincerest regards to her. Andy
I lost, and yet I won My first three opponents did not show up, taking me straight into the pay structure, whereupon I immediiately lost. Still, that's the easiest fiver I'll ever make. Unless there were technical problems it looked like a large number had registered well in advance and then not turned up on the day. That tends to happen with freerolls. It can be annoying in Andy's situation, because there is no way to take a vacant place if you missed out on the registration. On the other hand, it does increase the chances for those who, having registered, make a point of actually showing up!
New WilliamHills tournament. Always interesting to hear about new BJ tournament venues. What kind of format and pay-out structure are they using?
Not entirely new As has been mentioned, the underlying system (and hence the tournament format) is the same as GameAccount. I described this in some depth a while ago ... https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/threads/2311 And then there were also these threads ... https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/threads/2724 https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/threads/3174 For the moment, all that is new is a small number of additional WillHill-only freerolls, with higher payouts. (But then GA offered higher payouts in the first few weeks after they launched.) However, we have the promise of other promotions and new games, which is encouraging. Plus no one from GA ever took up my suggestion of posting here to get feedback on their game. It's nice to have a representative of William Hill to talk to. Todays's £1000 freeroll was limited to 512 players, meaning a knockout format of 9 rounds of heads-up play. The top 64 got payed. As a round-4 loser I got £5, the overall winner got £150.
Names I see what you mean now. I thought I had found the mechanism to change it on the web site, but that only applies to the casino section. So my Casino nickname is now LndnColin, but I remain Col080717 for the tournaments in 'Skill Games'. Not to worry. Reachy, Andy - Let me know your assigned names. The chat facility at the tables is a bit minimal, but you can add people to your 'friends list', see when they are online, and bring up a separate chat window. Beware of imposters! My GA account seems to have been fixed now, so I will sometimes be online as 'London Colin'. I did a check to make sure the friends list picks up accounts from both systems. A search for 'London' found my account and several others, including a 'London Collin'. Reachy, did you create a GA account ages ago but never use it? If not it was some other person called Reachy!
In one round I played, my opponent made a bet of 199$. I did not understand how he did this, because the only way I see that I can select my bet is by scrolling the bar by increments of 10 dollars. I don't see any type-in box. What is the other way to enter a bet? Thanks.
It's not very obvious but the box where the bet amount is displayed is an edit box. Click on it and you should see a cursor appear. That could have been me you were playing; $199 and $101 are two of my favourite bets.
