    How many players?

I suggest playing for the high if there are several players still at the table who can still beat you.

Against just one I normally bet to take the low if betting 2nd, if you BR2 you have to bet high (or split your bank roll if under two maximum bets).

You also have to concider if there is the surrender option.

If you watched Mondays WSOB, on my last hand I was BR2 and on the button with 3 players left. BR1 was $8,750 ahead of me betting second and BR3 was $8,000 behind me.

The betting limits were $5,000 minimum and $50,000 maximum. My bet was $14,500, this way I could over take BR1 should I win and he lost or push, yet I could surrender back and still cover BR3 should I need to and keep a small lead over him to advance.

What you want to try and do is give yourself the best possible chance to win or advance to the next round.
