I was playing at Global freeroll today and there was an interesting idea from one of the players to have 1on1 multi table tourneys. Micha from Global was not sure if that is something players want to play. He wanted to know some opinions from our community. Personally I think it is a good idea to at least try few times and see how everybody will like it. Maybe Ken can help us to have a poll about it. And we can vote for format and time.
Sounds interesting. My only worry would be the time it takes to complete. You'd have about 3 times as many tables initially as you would in 6 player per table game which, although I realise that 1on1s don't take as long to complete as 5/6 player tables, may add an unreasonable amount to the overall length of the tourney. Maybe not though. Does anybody have any idea what the average length of time it takes for a 1on1 vs S&G? Cheers Reachy
Shorten the game One of the ideas was to shorten the game too. Maybe 5 to 10 hands. 1 on 1 does go much faster anyway, so that may not be as critical. It is an interesting concept and definately would be different. Any ideas on how to divide the prize pool? Maybe the top x% of the field get paid something, graduating up to the winner getting 50% ? Go double elimination (one rebuy) and not wait on rounds, but just put people at tables as they advance. Keep a running leaderboard so everyone can see where they are at in some form of bracket system.
too short I wouldn't be interested in anything less than 15 hands but that's just me. 5 would be far too short. One rebuy is about right I think and I think the payout structure should be more heavily biased towards the top places than a regular S&G to reflect the mano a mano nature of the game. Cheers Reachy
sounds impressive The only difference with the length of time will be the number of eliminees in each round (50% for duels) instead of, say, 60% for 5 player rounds. For Online Casinos the number of tables doesn't make any difference since there's no need for extra dealers. If we have for example 128 players it'll take 6 rounds instead of 4. But, as mentioned above, duels go at least twice faster than regular 5 player rounds, so overall we will spend even less time to complete the whole circle. Regarding the prizes we can split prize pool between 4 players (semifinalists and finalists).
1 on 1 freeroll There is interesting Freeroll Tournament coming on October 12, at 2:30pst at GP. It's gonna be the first multytable 1 on 1 format. The finalists will be granted an entry to the Wednesday Tournament and then if we will like the format it'll start taking place for real money on the regular basis.
Be sure to check this out on Thursday at Global Player, and provide some feedback here afterwards so Global knows how it went. Here's a direct link to the relevant info: http://www.global-player.com/pages/04_1on1_blackjack_tournament.html?gai=100284
Great Event Yesterday on 10/12/06, first time in the history of Tournament BlackJack, Global Player held 1 on 1 multi-table format tournament. The event drew field of almost 90 players and run smoothly all the way through once the problem was fixed after first round. Congratulations to Ishkhan21 on winning this exciting event. Good Job. I hope that many of our community members like this format and we will enjoy it in the future. Thanks again to GP Team for continuing cooperation and support.
Good Job Yes a great job by Global-player.com with the one on one format. They had a small software problem during round 1 but that was eventually fixed. But this is not the first time that this format was run ,a similar format with a head to head duel with a losers bracket was held at the Las Vegas Hillton and is still run there. Couple of suggestion First I would like to thank Global-Player for offering us a free roll for your new one on one format. Now if I may I would like to suggest two things. 1. I think you should play an even number of hands. Playing 15 means that the player who starts off betting also has the button on the last hand. That is a disadvantage for the first player on both hands. 2. I like the re-buy, this gives the players a 2nd chance, however it only gives those who lost in the first round another chance. Have you ever thought of going to a double elimination format? This way every player would be given a chance to lose once and still be alive, not just for the first round. I would be more than glad to send you brackets for a double elimination format. I just believe (my opinion) that the players would be more inclined to play knowing these two options were added to your format. Both of these options make the event fair for every player, no advantage given to other player. Thanks again for the free roll yesterday, it was fun and I will be there for your next one.
1on1 tourney Some good ideas Tex. I enjoyed this tournament very much and I stuck around and talked to micha and Paolo. I gave them some ideas that would speed up the tournament. I believe they are open to all sugestions. tgun
Global 1 on 1: Two points: (maybe three we'll see) Sounds great! But as a US player notified by both firepay and neteller that I'm Sol, what can I play for......a box of twinkies? Too bad, cause I've been a global fan since I first spied it. Norm: Why is it your mild criticism of the minor software glitch didn't reach the level of diatribe of our dear newest friend RANDO's criticism of bet21? And okay, I don't have a three.
