We seem to have enough players for a 8 player event, but never seem to get more than 12 players interested in playing at the same time to fill up a 16 player bracket.

I sent out e-mails to a few players that either sent in their deposits or have shown interest in playing in this event.

The e-mail offered a smaller verson of the event with a 8 player bracket, playing the best 4 out of 7 series (no groups), just draw for position and play head up.

Now if we get 9 to 13 players my suggestion is to let everybody play each other in a best 3 out of 5 series and take the top 8 players for the brackets.

With 8 players I suggest the following payout's:

Advance one round and win $11,250 guaranteed.

Advance two rounds and win $17,500 guaranteed.

Win the event (finals best 5 out of 9 matches) and win $35,000.

Dealers tips will still be paid out of the vig.

This event is still scheduled to be filmed so all players entered will be fimed, not just the final table.

Even with a smaller turnout they will still only have two players per table, playing 14 hands and switching who starts each round (with a draw to see who goes first after every two matches).

Anybody wishing to play in this event just PM me before the end of the month.

As long as we have a minimum of 8 players willing to play this event I am willing to run it and River Palms is willing to host it.

What channel is filming, GSN, Travel, or who?

    Local Vegas production company

I've been asked not to say, WHY? I don't know, but I guess they have their reasons.

I've seen their work and it's good and they have a very good reputation with the casinos and they are willing to film the TBJPA events so I'll respect their wishes.

Were you coming up to the August Laughlin TBJPA events?

No I won't be playing, too many poker events in Mississppi in August. Just wanted to know what channel to look for to see this event.

    Love the Last Part

50% of the field winning money is a great move. Have fun you all and good luck. Wish I could be there.

    Film at Seven

Maybe it is the local TV2 gang? This outfit used to do a weekly football tout show filmed at the Golden Nugget-L in the Tarzans Lounge/Sportsbar. They had a three camera set-up and invited folks in for the Thursday afternoon taping. It was fun to watch, had the cocktailers and food going and featured the then GN-L GM, Andre Carrier. This was under the MGM and Tim & Tom days. You got a free parlay card too.

I guess Andre has moved-up the latter at the Nuggets and Landry's does not have as much fun going.

You can watch the local TV2 Bruce Clark show every morning at 7am for a study in how to kill an hour talking about nothing.

Correction on the 8 player format

Sorry I posted the wrong format earlier for the 8 player One on One Laughlin event on August 15th / 16th. Below is the correct format.

I am going to make this an eight-player tournament. We keep hanging around 10 - 12 players interested in playing but never getting the full 16 we were hoping for. If you want to play get hold of me ASAP, the first 8 get to play (and I only have a few seats left). I think it will just make it a lot easier to play 8 and have a smaller full bracket.

By only going with 8 players we can have the players draw for position (Top or bottom half of the bracket and seating) and simply play everybody in the top half against the 3 other players and everybody in the bottom half play against each other in a best 3 out of 5 series (14 hands each match if needed) with the top two players in each halves advancing to the next round.

    Example:

Schedule Play #1 vs. #2 and #3 vs. #4 in the top half of the bracket. Then #5 vs. #6 and #7 vs. #8 in the bottom half starting at 11:00 am and hosting a new match every half an hour.

    Wednesday 8/15
Round 1 - 4 matches at the same time in each session.

    Session 1 - (1 vs 2), (3 vs 4), (5 vs 6), and (7 vs 8)
    11:00 - match 1
    11:30 - match 2
    12:00 - match 3
    12:30 - match 4 (if needed)
    1:00 - match 5 (if needed)

One hour break for lunch at 1:30 – 2:30

    Session 2 – (1 vs 3), (2 vs 4), (5 vs 7), and (6 vs 8)

    2:30 – match 1
    3:00 – match 2
    3:30 – match 3
    4:00 – match 4 (if needed)
    4:30 – match 5 (if needed)

    Season 3 – (1 vs 4), (2 vs 3), (5 vs 8), (6 vs 7)

    5:00 – match 1
    5:30 – match 2
    6:00 – match 3
    6:30 – match 4 (if needed)
    7:00 – match 5 (if needed)

    Thursday 8/16

Round 2 - 2 matches at the same time, best 4 out of 7 series. Players win minimum of $11,250 for advancing to this round.

Session 1 - #1 player from top bracket plays #2 player from bottom bracket and #1 players from bottom bracket plays the #2 players from top bracket.

    11:00 - match 1
    11:30 - match 2
    12:00 - match 3
    12:30 - match 4 (if needed)
    1:00 - match 5 (if needed)
    1:30 – match 6 (if needed)

    2:00 – match 7 (if needed)

One hour break for lunch at 2:30 – 3:30

    Round 3 - Finals – Best 5 out of 9 series. 1st = $35,000 / 2nd = $17,500

    3:30 - match 1
    4:00 - match 2
    4:30 - match 3
    5:00 - match 4
    5:30 - match 5
    6:00 - match 6 (if needed)
    6:30 - match 7 (if needed)
    7:00 – match 8 (if needed)

    7:30 – match 9 (if needed)

Fifty (50%) percent of the field will win money, you gotta love that.
