    I'm ready!

I'll consider my recent 7th place finish at Hilton MDBJ3 as a mere warmup. :)

    Fabulous news

"Just about" a done deal? Please let us know if there's anything we can do to eliminate the first two words and question mark of this post.

This is unbelievable!! One person can arrange a function that all of the experts in the casino industry do not want to touch. Fabulous and thank you for all of the time & effort. Hope to hear more on the LV radio show this afternoon if I can get it to come up on my browser. So far no luck with tuning into the station. :celebrate

Way to go Joe. Cudos, congrats, Maybe everyone who enters can put an extra 10 to 20 in the hat to cover your entries and rebuys, (if needed) as some compensation for all the hard work.

Getting thru to the deadhead MBAs out there is a demonstration of skills equal to or greater than your table and tournament play.

    If You Only Knew

I have been asked to write a tournament book and the truth of the matter is I have done nothing my drag my feet on this project. If and when I ever do write it I will also tell the story of trying to get this 2 Million Dollar Tournament off the ground. This chapter will make your hair curl, take your breath away and make you laugh out loud.If you only knew what we are all up against.Tournament players are looked upon in many different ways. It's safe to say not always in a good way :flame: So when this finally comes to be (I Hope) you will see how some quick thinking and the never say die motto made this come to life.

    Thanks,

    JOEP

    2 million dollar Tournament

I have just been notified that after a complete background check that there is a big meeting either Monday July 25th 0r Tuesday the 26th that I will be involved in to put the final proposal in place for the 2 million dollar tournament. As long as there aren't any big issues that come up that we are unware of, I hope to have good news at the end of next week. Joe started this many month's ago and for many reason's he has passed the tourch to me to try to finalize it. We all should keep our fingers crossed.

    More Good News

What Kenny E. forgot to mention is that we have the host casino considering picking up the live money Frontier format tournament also. Our suggestion is to piggy back this tournament every 3 months to run right after the 2 Million Dollar Tournament or right before it.So now when you come to Las Vegas to play you will have 2 tournaments running back to back at the same location.Remember the good old days when that was a normal occurence. :)

    The Pot

Lemme see, . . . lemme see . . . what is the entry gonna be?
    Let me count the ways:

    $2-million = 5000 X $400
    or
    $2-million = 2500 X $800
    or
    $2-million = 2000 X $1,000
    or
    $2-million = 1600 X $1,250
    or
    $2-million = 1250 X $1,600
    or
    $2-million = 1000 X $2,000
    or
    $2-million = 800 X $2,500
    or
    $2-million = 400 X $5,000

In any case, I shall have to start saving my pennies.

    A Lot Of Pennies

If you are going to save your pennies to pay for your entry fee you will need 100,000 pennies which equal 1,000 dollars. The entry fee will remain the same as it was at the Hilton.

The changes that were made were that we have added a re-buy option. This option will allow us to pay a lot more than 40,000 for 2nd place.A 960,000 difference between first and second place is just to much. With players support 2nd place can be as high as 500,000.Final payout figures will be determined based upon the attendance and support of the re-buy option

Poor marketing by the new owners of the Hilton spelt doom for the Hilton version of this tournament. With a fresh new format and player support this will become the largest Blackjack Tournament ever held.Lets all show the Hilton that they made a huge mistake in letting this tournament die. Then again the new Casino Manager at the Hilton was against this tournament the first day he walked in.They really believe that tournament players are able to walk on water.Respect us don't fear us, after all we are customers.

Tournaments are held to bring customers in the doors. Not one advantage player ever broke the rule as far as playing the tables .Jimmy Wike started this tournament with the understanding everyone could play in the tournament and if you were told you could not play Blackjack you abided by that rule or you didn't play.

The Hilton's mindset under Jimmy Wike was a smart business plan, the non-advantage players will give sufficent side play to make this a money making venture and they did.Once Jimmy Wike left and small time local casino mentality was brought in to run the casino what can you expect.Running a casino on Boulder Highway is not good enough training to run a (BIG TIME) casino.

    pennys or dimes

My accolades to Joe and Kenny for their continuous effort and dedication to bring to fruitation the largest BJ tournament in history. If we as players support their efforts this may be just a beginning for open BJ tournaments we all desire, not just an invitational because we lost our butt against the house at a $100 minimum table.

For those of you who never played in the New Frontier it is probally the best format for tournament play. $300 entry with $150 re-buys as avalible. $5 min. bet to $100 max. bet (ALL LIVE MONEY) $1 chips are also allowed (this is when chip counting becomes fun). Surrender is also offered.

This is a great tournament, it was always one of my favorites.

It will be nice to have both of these tournament formats back in play again.

    Getting a second chance?

Big tournaments are of no value to the casino unless they get some action from the players. From what I saw in my many qualifying attempts at the Hilton, they didn’t get what they were looking for. If we are lucky enough to have a second big game are we going to spoil that one also?

    Excellent point

Vince is on the money and that is what Joep and I have been posting about. If we don't support the casino that were hoping picks up the 2 million tournament why should they bother hosting any tournaments for us.

We have four types of player, (1) the advantage player and or counter that is not allowed to play regular BJ in the casino, (2) the player that is willing to pay the entry but give them no action, (3) the small to medium player that puts in the time but at a lower avg., and (4) the big players that can get into the VIP events without any help.

As I see it the fairest way for all the players to contribute to the success of any future tournaments is if we can make it profitable for the casinos. Until someone comes up with a better plan I still think a fee per player is the best way.

I have no problem with the bigger players at the casino getting comped into the tournaments as long as the casino put's the money back into the prize pool.

Unless someone can give me a good arguement why the casinos shouldn't cover they expences on these events I don't see any reason for any player to complain about a fee.

This way it allows us as to play without any presser. If we don't get in 4 hours a day no big deal, if our avg. falls below normal were under no obligation to the casino. Now on the other hand if we get our time and avg. bets in we are rewarded with comp's, room, food, shows,..ect.
