The best game I ever played was a 2d game at the Palace Casino in Biloxi. It offered surrender, double any two cards, das, both decks dealt completely through,no even money, must have backup chips for insurance, split 3 times. This was a weekly mini. Ican't remember the buy in amount but all semifinalist were given a 50 coupon fot the casino's best restaurant. I would like to see more 2d games offered to tourn.players. There seems to be more mystique in guessing what opponents are holding other than making decisions on a visible hand. It makes the game more interesting when we must try and read an opponents hand. I also like the fact that I can hold the cards in my hand. It seems like I am more involved. Any preferences for the 2d game?
I play in a 2-deck tourney every week and it's a completely different game when you don't know what cards your opponent has. Case in point, last week when it was down to just two players and I had the lead with three hands to play. I was dealt a pair of 7's against the dealer 3. I was first to act and saw my opponent look at his cards and reach for his chips. I was sure he was going to double-down. I was hesitant to risk my lead, but when I saw that he was prepared to double, I went ahead and split. I ended up with two stiffs, he bluffed me and ended up staying on his stiff hand. I got really lucky when the dealer busted and I was able to extend my lead. The game takes on a new meaning when you can't see your opponents cards.
You're right about that! I remember those days fondly. Every week, we had a fantastic tournament, and a great gourmet meal over which friendships were formed and extended. Good times!
