alright, I know a few basic rules for black jack now, and I want to play at home with my friends, like a tournament, I read a post before where I took some advice about the number of hands to play, amount of chips, amount to bet, number of decks to play, but I still have couple of questions, since I have only played myself vs. dealer at the computer. lets say I am the dealer in a tournament and I have four players, and 1 of them gets a black jack, but the rest doesnt, I assume the rest will hit till they stand. Now, I flip my hidden card, so lets say I got a 10 & 6... 1- does the guy with the black jack automatically wins? (I assume it does, just want to make SURE) 2- Can I as a dealer make a next move, like getting another card myself trying to reach 17 and try to beat the rest of the players hands? or I canĀ“t do sh*t? 3- If I could do so, and I flip a next card and got a 5 (10 + 6 + 5) do I draw with the blackjack? or he just won on his first hand? I guess this sounds super amateurish but Iam pretty far from a casino and none of the people surrounding me have a damn clue about blackjack thanks in advance
1- The BJ automatically wins. 2- The dealer always hits until they reach 17+. It's up to you whether you will have the dealer hit on soft 17 or not, but always take a card if you are under 17. 3- If the dealer draws to 21 the BJ still wins. It's considered a "natural" and the only thing that pushes a natural is another natural. I would really suggest reading up a lot more on the rules of BJ before you host a tournament in your home. It is imperative that you know the rules completely before you deal even 1 hand. Good luck
Thank you very much, its exactly the reason why I want to make sure every little doubt is clarified before we start, another question, when I deal the cards to play with 4 players, shold I deal from one deck only? or put the two decks together, shuffle them together and play with the 2 of them? (80 cards) thanx.. When you guys talk about 6 decks games and 8 decks games, it means all that bunch of cards on a joint? and they deal from that big pack?
It's up to you how many decks you use. Fewer decks will mean more shuffling. A big reason why many casinos use 6 or 8-deck shoes is because of card counting. If the people you will be inviting are really amateurs I don't think that will be an issue.
When dealing with multiple decks you usually use a shoe. That's a device that holds all the cards. The dealer just draws cards from the shoe until it is time to shuffle. You don't hold them in your hand unless you are using just one deck.
Where? Maybe you could hire a casino company to provide the dealer, table and supplies for your event or home party. Where are you located? Maybe I can find you a company.
New Stardust Tournament Director You know so little about running a Tournament maybe we can get you hired by the StarBUST Casino to be their new tournament director. Then everyone here will "help" you in getting more players to play in the Stardust Tournaments.Fresh minds have good ideas !!!.500 Players to 160 players in less than 5 years, you think they need new direction ?
lol.... yeah I know what all that means, thanks for all the help guys, hey we are all amateurs of course, we all are doing it also for fun, we are playing with very short amount of money as well so dont worry guys, everything is fine, One more question, once I shuffle the 2decks for the first time, and I deal to all the players, and we all play, should I shuffle it againa or wait for a few hands to be dealt before I shuffle again? thanx
Cut Card Generally, a "cut card" is used (plastic card the same size as the rest of the cards in the deck.) It is inserted somewhere between 50% to 85% of the deck. When the cut card is encountered while dealing, you finish out that hand and then reshuffle. For "recreational" BJ action, lean towards the deeper cut to keep more cards in play. It requires less time spent in shuffling. Casinos will often tend to go with something closer to 50% in an attempt to make "card counting" less effective.
