I haven't called for details about this, but I've been told that Ameristar Kansas City is hosting a blackjack tournament with a $500 entry fee in April.

I checked their website a week ago, and found nothing about it. If anyone has more details, please post. Thanks.

    Two tournaments, plus weekly's

Please note: KC casinos have maximum loss of $500.
You lose $500, you cannot rebuy back in for two hours I am told.

I heard they have weekly tournaments on Monday nights for $30 entry with max. of 98 players.

They have a $100 entry on Wed. March 31st for $4,900 1st based on 98 max. players.

Format: Elimination, 7-tables, 7- players table A & B rounds, 2 - advance from each table. Semifinals: 4-tables, 7-players per table, 1-advances from each table to finals and 3 wild cards drawn from the semifinalist only. First place 50%.

In April 17/18 they have a $500 entry with 108 max. entries.
(Most of us will be in Tunica (Bally's) or Biloxi (Beau Rivage) on those dates).

Format: I was told they believe it is the same as weekly's but with 108 players , they weren't sure.

Is the Beau Rivage an invitation only tournament?

No, I've been told the Beau Rivage event that weekend is open to anyone. It sounds like a good value, with only a $100 entry fee for a $25K prize pool, IIRC.

I'm headed to Bally's instead, but it was a tough choice.

Also, I hope you get better info out of the Beau than I did. When I called, the guy I spoke to said, you don't need to reserve a spot. Just show up the day of the tournament. Somehow I think that's very unlikely. I would have followed up, but after I decided on Bally's I didn't bother.

    Ken
I just called the Beau and the tournament is full. I also inquired why I wasn't sent any info on the tournament. My problem is I've been playing more in Vegas that in Biloxi since its quicker to fly to Vegas than drive to Biloxi, so my play at Rivage has been down which might explain the snub. They're also a lot tighter under the new ownership. How much farther of a drive is it from Biloxi to Tunica?
Will you be doing a breakdown of the last 5 hands from round two at Mohegan Sun ?

Biloxi to Tunica is a long haul, about a 6 hour drive.

toonces posted an analysis of the GSN episode 2 on the board, though I've only had time to post a few comments in response. Is there interest in having the final hands laid out in the Play-By-Play section?

Also, Joe Pane kindly provided me the last hand detail from the March LVH MDBJ2 qualifier. It'll be appearing soon in PbP.

Last thought for now: I'm playing the final qualifier next month, but there's still no official word at the Hilton about whether Million Dollar 3 will be held. I'm very skeptical that it will happen. Either way, they need to decide soon, so we can start planning travel arrangements for May.

    Ken,
I would enjoy seeing the last 5 hands of GSN2 laid out.
I just called Caesars in Vegas to see if there was an interest in picking up LVHMDBJ3. I talked to Jimmy who was the tournament director at the Hilton, he's now with Caesars. They're waiting to see what Hilton plans to do with the tournament. Of course I drew the analogy of what Bellagio has done with poker and the same popularity that BJ tournaments are experiencing. I think he's way out in front of my sugestion. So it looks like MDBJ could be bumped up a level next year if (when) they take it over.
I got kucky in Feb and qualified for the MDBJ2 finals. Look forward to seeing you in it.

Instagator, I was at the Feb qualifier as well (congrats on the entry). I made it through round two and then had an incredible bad run of cards. But it was great being there and meeting many people.

I'd like to see the last 5 hands from both the Feb and Mar final tables for the LVMDBJ2 qualifiers.

    Beau Rivage?

I managed to sign up for the Beau Rivage tournament, but I have been unable to find out much beyond the date, time and top prize
    (April 16, 17, 6p.m., 1st 25,000).
Can anyone fill me in about the tournament structure and secondary prizes?

    Thanks,
    Sentry

No new info, but there is a full-page ad for the Beau Rivage event on the back cover of this month's Casino Player magazine.

$50,000 Blackjack Squadron Tournament, April 16-17, $100 entry fee, $25000 top prize guaranteed. Advance reservations required. 1-800-964-7036.

Ironic that they say this tournament is full now. This magazine just arrived, and buying the back cover couldn't have been cheap.
