A new one for me!

We are always hoping to find new players for our favorite BJ Tourneys, but this new player is a bit over the top.

I played at the Biloxi Grand's bi-weekly BJ tourney. I sat down to play in the first round and this lady sits next to me with the BJ tourney rules laying on top of the arm cushion, and she was busily trying to count her starting chips 'one by one'. I thought to myself, "Oh boy, this could be a long round".

Well, on the first hand everyone made their bets except her. We all looked at her, and finally the dealer asked her to make a bet. She jumped up in state of shock and said, "Do you mean I have to bet BEFORE we get our cards?"

Needless to say, she ran over everyone at the table.

No, but she did hit EVERY hand including soft 19's and 20's vs. dealer anything until she got hard 17. She had more than a max bet lead and made a max bet on the last hand to let some of us back in it with a swing, but she got Blackjack which took care of that. I was uh.......impressed.

Yeah, I noticed there were a LOT of never played blackjack before players at that tournament. Amazing how they seem to be the ones that win the rounds despite all our practice and study of the game.

    Dumb Luck

Exactly the same thing happened to me at the Grand in February. Lady had never been to a tournament table before & she cleaned our clocks with the help of an obnoxous player sitting beside her.

    All part of the game

I tell you if you don't have luck it doesn't matter what cards you get. Read my post "Bring the cheese, I've got the whine" and you'll see I caught great cards, but had no luck.

I do agree that some players will make you want to pull your hair out, but all we can do is put ourselves in the best situation to win.
