I just got this from LVA. Aladdin Going, Going ... ... Gone as of next Wednesday, September 1. The Nevada Gaming Commission has unanimously approved the licensing of the new owners, principals in the Planet Hollywood chain. Robert Earl, PH's CEO, has indicated that his group, which includes Starwood Hotels & Resorts, will invest $100 million in upgrading the property over the next year and a half. Renovations will include replacing the Aladdin's face with the Planet Hollywood facade, remodeling the casino, and adding restaurants, a 1,300-seat showroom, and a 500-seat TV studio. The group plans to officially launch the Planet Hollywood brand by mid-2006.
