Anyone experience major losing streak lately?

Has any regular player on bet21/Ultimate Bet experienced a big slump over the last 4-8 weeks? Have you been involved in some really bad (or "sick" as Spore calls them) beats, time and time again?

Absolute Poker bought bet21/Ultimate Bet a little while ago. Anyone know the actual date? And given what's recently been revealed on the poker side, I'm just wondering if something could be up on the bj side as well.

The reason I ask: I know of at least five TOP players (won't reveal any names unless they decide to come forward) including myself, who, in passing via emails, PM, posts, have revealed that they found themselves in horrible slumps these last few months. I, myself, a few weeks ago, was in a losing streak of 25 tournaments of all levels without making a final table. I cashed out last week since it was no longer fun playing on the site -- seeing elimination hand after elimination hand go against me in the craziest ways.

I understand that this could all be chalked up to probability and things catching up with my successes, but after reading similar stories from four other players, I just had to wonder.

I'm posting this on this forum, since I know I'd be attacked on the LVA forum before I even hit the "submit" button. Bottom line: I only want to know if you have experienced anything strange in your play/winnings over the last two months. If not, continued success. If you have, please PM me or post on this thread.

    Loosing streaks do happen

I haven't played in any on line BJ. However in the brick and mortar casinos a few month's ago I went through 33 consecutive buyins and rebuys without advancing out of the 1st round. Most of those tournaments were one player out of six advance. Still some were 2 of six advance. I could be the chip leader going into the final hand and have the high and low on everybody and get swung. It wasn't all bad. Once I drew a wildcard entry into the semi finals and advanced to the final table and won the tournament.

However if some of the top players are getting bounced in the online tournaments all the time then it might be more than just bad luck.

    Fwiw

As Archaman, I left Bet21 in mid-April after playing more than 1100 games (MTTs and SNGs) in the previous six months. My final table MTTs average for that period was a respectable 22% and my cashing average in SNGs was around 34%.

I came back on Bet21 mid-september. I made the final table on the first three MTT games I played and two more after that up to Oct.4. Since then (19 MTTs) nothing but five or six close calls (last to be eliminated before final table) where I got swung on the last hand holding a stiff on good bets.

This is not the first slump I've been in, Ted, and from my experience my good results come in cluster. I keep telling myself to be patient. It does get on the nerves though and, sometimes, I try to change my game to no avail.

Untill facts prove otherwis, I'm not ready yet to relate my slump to the Asbsolute Poker situation.

Hi, no bad streak for me recently. During the last 45 days, I played 83 MTT and got to 21 final tables (7 of them in the last 10 days).

    My two cents.

In my experience, the luck component, i.e. the fickle distribution of the cards versus the skill component, i.e. basic strategy betting and bet sizing, sometimes causes streaks of wins and streaks of loses that are harder to explain when we are losing. When we win, we of course elevate ourselves to expert level. ZWeeky is a good example of a very skillfull player currently and deservedly enjoying a strong winning performance. He is one tough player.

On the other hand online gaming is completely unregulated and not transparent at all to the players and leads itself to potential larceny on the part of the operators who have more information available to them than the players. Example: the hole card in BJT, the other players' cards in Poker. So, collusion is always possible as evidenced by the recent Absolute Poker scandal. Collusion between players could also bend the outcome, particularly in poker.

At this point however, I believe that everything is on the level with UB/Bet21 and similar to Archaman, I blame bad cards for my loses. But, I cannot say that I completely trust online gaming.:joker: :joker: :joker:

    streaking

I've been playing UB/Bet21 since they started up - and have found from the beginning that wins and losses have tended to streak strongly - that's why I spent a lot of effort on tracking tables and hands for a while - but never found anything that wasn't explainable from simple variance -

the bottom line is that the elimination format and secret bets - emphasizes luck more than regular tbj - and big variance swings will be more common - you're essentially playing four super-turbo tables in a row with a big guessing factor thrown in

over the last month or so - I have made a profit - but have experienced both streaks of making final tables and losing tourneys in this time - averaging maybe a week or week and a half in length - has averaged out a little in my favor

just be careful not to let a losing streak chance the way you play - and it should eventually turn around

There's luck and then there is Zweeky

Tonight, third round of the Barona freeroll, 4 players left, hand 25 (elimination) :

    Me : 108,000 bet 500
    Player two : 106,750 bet 500
    Zweeky : 56,000 bet 25k
    Player four : 102,000 bets 4,500

Well guess what, Zweeky split two monkeys, got 19 on one, gets a monkey on the other one, pauses, whines, then doubles up for an ace and 21. Player 4 was out and Zweeky, with 112,000, managed to advance to the next round five hands later on hand 30.

Who did he kick out in the end. Me

Normal. I'm in a slump and he's running a hot streak.

I wish him well for the rest of the tournament. He deserves to be on t.v.

Yes, I could not believe that hand. After I saw Archie and the other player bet 500, I was wondering if I should bet one third of my bankroll to keep the possibilty of a split and resplit, but I did not because player 4 could not keep more than 106000 in chips and i thought my best chance was to hope for a double win of 50000 and swing player 4.

But then player 4 was dealt a 20, so there was no way I could win with 50000 on the table anymore. And when I was dealt a 20 on the second hand, I wish I had bet one third of my bankroll to be able to resplit. So my last chance was to double down that hard 20... and I did get an ace.

    apology and clarification

I'm really sorry I started this thread. It has been really blown out of proportion. In my original post, I said, "I'm just wondering if something could be up on the bj side as well." Key word: wondering

I also said, "I understand that this could all be chalked up to probability and things catching up with my successes, but after reading similar stories from four other players, I just had to wonder." Key word" wonder

And I also said, "Bottom line: I only want to know if you have experienced anything strange in your play/winnings over the last two months."

I didn't make any direct accusations, and I didn't shout conspiracy theory. I was only "wondering" if other players had gone through their worst losing streaks ever, like five other players had. And with the recent revelation on the poker side of Absolute Poker, one had to "wonder".

Ted, I think you have nothing to be sorry about re: this thread. Good, intelligent conversation among BJT enthusiasts without cheapshots and sour innuendo. I rather liked reading of others' experiences on Bet21 and didn't see any problems with the replies.

Don't apologize for it. If you're upset about somebody hijacking your comments and importing them to another forum - that's certainly not your fault.
