Well it's that time again, the Laughlin TBJPA events are only two weeks away and I keep getting contected by players wanting to know if they can share a ride down to Laughlin with any other players.

Any players wishing to split the cost of a rental car or just gas cost with local players, please post to this thread, what date and time your getting in to Vegas (or leaving down to Laughlin), where to meet each other to ride down, and if your willing to help off set some the travel expense.

All interested parties should contact one another by PM's.

For those of you that just wish to catch a shuttle down, I believe they run three times a day for $40 each way.

Hopefully this post can help out several players with finding rides down to Laughlin.

Hope to see you down in Laughlin in two weeks.

In addition to transportation, a related topic......Fuel prices in the area

Being a somewhat frequent visitor to the area, just wanted to alert all that fuel prices, just a few miles over the river in Bullhead City AZ [along State Highway 95(?) that parallels the Colorado River], are up to 30 cents per USGAL less expensive than the least expensive prices on the Laughlin side.

My current plans are to arrive on Saturday afternoon/evening by motorcar from other activities in Las Vegas and participate in the Sunday event. Are there any related - tournament, social or otherwise - activites organized for Saturday or Sunday evenings? I Planning on driving back to Las Vegas on Monday morning. Happy to entertain transportation needs in either direction upon request.

    Possible Saturday/Sunday dinner...

Mr. McCoy I am sure we can put together a little dinner party for either Saturday or Sunday evening.

Any interested parties should post and let us know if you would like to join the party.

The River Palms has a nice little resturant down stairs where several players could all join us. I don't believe their Steakhouse is the place to host a party of more then 8, plus it is pretty quite and laid back, not really the place for a party.

PS. Thanks for the gas update!

    Dinner suggestions

Does anyone have any suggestions for Sunday night dinner? Chipsmccoy reminded me that we have several other options other then the River Palms as well.

I am not that familar with all the resturants in Laughlin.

Car Pool Lane...now meet and greet

I do believe Tex is talking about "Pasta Cucina" which is opposite the coffee shop on the lowest level. It opens at 4pm, featuring a Happy Hour in the bar portion of the restaurant until 6pm. The "game' will be on the TVs and this bar looks east over the river. Really is a nice quiet joint.

This would be my choice for any kind of informal gathering. You should be able to sit at the bar and then take over waiteress served tables with the needed demand.

This joint does a basic all you can eat pasta format on the restaurant side, but will serve up a pizza and other stuff. It is in-house so your banked comps should be burned debit-card style.

It is true the Riverside's Prime Rib room is a deal, but it is way down there.

My second choice for an informal gathering would be at the Golden Nugget's Tarzan/Sportsbar. This is 10 minutes away walking out the RP on the riverwalk. They do a limited sports food menu and you will be able to see the game of your choice. A chicken breast Pannini and a Sierra Nevada Pale usually makes me happy.

    many of the Laughlin casinos

have a 'gourmet' dining option - or - steakhouse - these can be spendy for Laughlin - and I regard most of them as being of questionable quality - that doesn't mean 'bad' - just below my definition of 'gourmet' - remember - Laughlin caters to the 'old, slow, and middle class' - this is the 'Red Lobster is fine dining' crowd -

but I have been relatively pleased with the food options at the Golden Nugget and Riverside - for Laughlin - have only dined in the buffet and coffee shop at River Palms - neither anything special nor horrible - Harrah's and Tropicana Express to be avoided at all costs - I personally wouldn't mind trying the other options at the River Palms - or either the Golden Nugget or Riverside - as said - Golden Nugget is within walking distance -

just don't expect anything comparable to an actual good restaurant

    Carpool -- Dinner

I'll be staying in Vegas both before and after Laughlin. Plan on departing Vegas around 1pm on Thursday (possibly play Longhorn mini) and returning to Vegas sometime Monday am. If you are looking for a ride during one or both of these time frames send me a PM.

Note: I'm leaving for Vegas Monday aft. EDT so let me know before then.

Count me in for the dinner party. Unless there is a far superior location for the dinner I would lean toward River Palms, support our host casino.

I forgot about Pasta Cucina, that would be a great place.

    Golden Nugget is Landry's

Houston based Landry's owns the Golden Nuggets and has put in their branded chains. At GN-L this means a Joe's Crabshack, Saltgrass Steakhouse and a Harlow's coffee shop. Good or bad this is what you get next door to the RP.

I did Harlows for the first time last trip. I did a mid-week late night breakfast...Deuces Wild for $1.99. Of course coffee still cost $1.95, but they kept my oversized cup full. Harlows is a nicely appointed room next to the plant laced foyer.

    Carpool Ca Style

Ca schools start the year next week so Laughlin will be slow with many of the Sea Doo crowed staying in Ca. My kids have orientation Thur and Fri so I will be car pooling Ca style as a single driver. Hope to make it Thur but as of now it could very well be Fri night. BTW, gas prices have tanked out here on the coast in the 2.80s now. Pretty low considering a couple weeks ago they were in the 3.30 range.

Compared to .99 in 2002 it's pretty high NOW. It's a relative thing

    2002 vs 2007

Prices in 2002 arent relevant to the price you pay today because the impact is in the PRESENT. Its a relative thing.:joker: Fact is here in my area it cost over 15$ less to fill up than it did a couple weeks ago. Just normal market price cycling of gasoline prices.
