is now three times per week - on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays - starting time is 5:00 - registration starts at noon - if you register by 4:00 or so, can get into first round usually -

they're replacing one of the edgewater minis at least

    nice little mini

Same Bat time, same bat channel

So the first question is if they are still doing their free $1,500 VP tourney on Wednesdays too? This has been around for a long time. If so, how are they handling the timing conflict since the VP tourney finals are at 8pm.

I keep threatening to stay at the Avi. They just keep expanding their amenties and are a true destination. My problem is it is 15 miles from the Casino Drive casinos.

    Laughlin Entertainer

I got out my hard copy of the August 1st edition of the weekly Laughlin Entertainer. The Avi usually has a two page ad touting their array of deals and promos.

Yep the ad reflects the addition of a Wednesday BJ tourney and the free VP tourney.

Is the Avi still doing that $50 in chips for $40 cash deal? If I remember correctly the cashback rate for VP was pretty good like .3%. Anyone familiar with the details of their slot club?

Anyone know how to get comped rooms? The Avi really is a locals joint. I never got mail from them.

According to vpFREE, the Avi has VP cashback of .308%.
The VP selection there is a little grim, however. Three 9/6 JoB's in dollars. Some 9/6 JoB quarters with the Royal shorted to 2500. A fair selection of Bonus Poker from quarters to $2. Some Loose Deuces scattered about in quarters thru dollars. BP and LD are only 99.2%. Ugh.

Nothing in there about the $50 for $40 deal, maybe someone else can help.

Thanks for your efforts Leftnut. But most of that VP info is actually my observations (old). Just like you I have several "handles" to help sort with whacked private replies. You and Deb have had to go a bit public with all that "fun" recently.

Curious if you have personally been down to the Avi or even Laughlin? With the Thursday double point/comp promo and an array of other promo type things to consider through the week, the new outdoor options (pool, beach, music) for fun if I should actually pay for a room for a couple of nights?

I just have not payed for a room in a very long time, which is a hard habit to break.

That got me cracking up pretty good, OEJ. Quoting your own info back to you.

I haven't been to Laughlin in years, so can't help much.

Yeah, Deb and I have had to be a bit more "public" than we're used to because of the dual PlayUBT thing. From the looks of things around here, it's gonna be a lot more public pretty soon. The media is already sniffing around. :(

    Avi Website and offerings

The Avi has a pretty good website. You can win a room package signing-up. Their August solicitation is a weekday two night deal for $89. This $89 gets you 4 buffets, movie tickets to the Brennen 8-plex, popcorn and $25 in gas at their station right across the road.

Their last expansion was spring 2006...new sportbook, card room, bar, restaurant, convention space, pool complex...

    Speeed trap

If you travel from River Palms on Casino Drive to the Avi there is a long speed trap just out of the casino to the Avi turnoff. They have you traveling 35-45 in what should be at least 55 mile per hour roads. The cops hang in the brush driving 4 wheel drives and pop as many as they can. It truly makes the drive to the Avi painful! Its even worse coming into town as you have just been traveling at about 85 with the flow.

    Tickets, speeding tickets please...

I agree with Barney on this issue. You really must pay attention. I got lucky last time since someone else was snagged in the trap when I realized just how fast I was going. Was that you Barney Stone?
