I've been playing at Casino Rouge here in Baton Rouge about 5 days a week since January. I also play their tournament every Saturday. I average $10/hand and spread to $80 if I get a good run of cards (which is rare, $30 is usually my biggest bet for the night). Without warning I was outright barred from the property last night with no explanation other then "We've been watching you for a while. I'm sure you know why."

How unusual is it for a red chip bettor to be totally barred from the property like this? And is there anything I can really do? I really liked playing at this casino and now with Biloxi, Lake Charles, and New Orleans closed my options are getting thin. The only other casino in town is owned by the same company so I'm afraid the same thing will happen if I go over there.

I've played all along the gulf coast for the last several years. This is the first time this has happened. I checked my records, my total winnings at this casino for the year are $389.

  2. What a bummer. If they took any action at all, I would have expected that they just prevent you from playing blackjack, not bar you from the entire property. Maybe they are getting too smug with their anticipation of new business from former Gulf Coast players.

    Sorry about your luck buddy

As much as it sucks, you can definately get tossed over red chip games regardless of how little you've won -- shit, i've been thrown out while actually LOSING money before. Your bet spread probably wasn't what flagged you as much as them getting to recognize you as a regular basic strategy player who deviates from BS at key moments -- and that's enough right there.

I remember back when Park Place owned what's now the Caesar's properties (Bally's, Flamingo, etc) -- i got flagged at Caesar's and then tried to play something like 2 months later at Bally's and was immediately marked. Of course, i bought in with my PPE player's card, so that didn't help, but you will probably find some level of heat at other stores owned by the same casino that 86'd you unless you play more anonymously.

    "Back Offs"

They are way too common these days. I've had several and amazingly, with only one exception, I was losing when each one came. I got my first "back off" as a winner this week at Fitzgerald's. It came only 18 minutes into the session, so I'm guessing they were waiting on me (I don't think it had anything to do with my splitting tens).
You don't have to be a winner or even a winning player, just appear to know what you're doing and you could be in trouble. I understand they are now getting rid of dice players at several strip joints because the players set the dice. ABSURD! Who's the greater threat, a player who sets the dice or one who has them hidden in his hand?
At least the courts are starting to side with the players who are abused. I talked to someone yesterday who was awarded 6 figures for a 13 minute kidnapping. So it seems the best advantage play these days is getting "backroomed".
