  2. I played in the first two and hope to play in this one but that is one busy weekend for me. Lots of travel already on the books for the days surrounding those dates.

Jan and I will be there again. I look forward to another round at the BrewPub with you, Rebel.

    Stevey, it's in Biloxi. http://www.beaurivage.com
    Nice place.

I played in the Blackjack Squadron tourney earlier in the year and enjoyed the format. Remember they have the rule no even money on blackjack if you don't have the chips to cover the insurance bet.

I'll be at this one. Everyone going should plan a meet up or something.

    Conflict with Grand Tunica

Isn't this on the same weekend as the Grand tournament in Tunica? I have my calender marked to play in that one, but I have also played in the beaurivage tourney too, so I am torn about which one to play in. Doesn't the grand payout a lot more (down to semifinalists) or am I mixing that up with the Gold Strike?

I know the Grand is $500 versus the $100 for the beau, and there probably are fewer players in Biloxi versus Tunica, plus the beach is always better than looking for Elvis.....

    Beau Rivage Tournament

    Ken Smith,

I've made reservation for this tournament. I know, I probably won't win but I just love the challenge.....lol I've only been playing blackjack since October, 2004. Blackjack certainly keeps me busy enough since I retired and helps keep cob webs out of my head.

Ken, I saw you on television about 8 months ago in a blackjack tournament. I can't remember the names you played against. I just remembered your name because you are from Mississippi and keeps everyone here thinking BLACKJACK!!!!!!!

    Good luck to everyone.

    Feeling Lucky,
    Cjoy

    Martini Bar

Yes, the tournay is on the same weekend as the Tunica Grand. But don't think the Beau will not be jammed. It will. But it's a fun tourney, and well run.

One thing that is important to note... the martinii bar near the playing area is FREE to tournament players all weekend. It's a nice little spot and the martini's are great. I'll be there with my wife. Hope to see some of ya.

    Hotel Room

    Hi Kenny,

I made my reservation for the Beau Rivage tournament but no room with it. Where would you suggest I stay? Beau Rivage was $229 - Fri & $219 - Sat. much too high.
    I've never been to Biloxi

    Faye,
If you have a car then check nearby motels along the coast toward Goulfport. They have prices advertized, starting at less than $30 mid-week days.

The rooms at Grand Casino Biloxi are inexpensive and very nice. Only a few minutes from the Beau.

    Beau Rivage Takes a Bath

Post storm reports indicate the Beau suffered major flooding on the entire first floor. Not sure if it was the hotel only since the casino is a barge and could have rose with the storm surge. Let's hope the tournament is still on.

I think it's safe to say that neither the Grand Gulfport event nor the Beau Rivage have any chance of happening. I'll be very surprised if any casino reopens for two months.

That's just based on the information I'm getting second hand. I'm still not home, as I'm stuck in Vegas. Hopefully tomorrow I can fly into Pine Belt Airport near Hattiesburg, despite my car being in the New Orleans Airport parking (fourth floor fortunately).

The one-way ticket from Vegas to Hattiesburg was a whopping $744 though! Ouch! I just hope I'm home to check on my family by late tomorrow night. I haven't heard from them since the storm starting getting really tough in Hattiesburg.

    Our wishes

    Ken,
you know, that many people over here, at your site, feel like a big family, with all complex shades of feelings towards each other.
But at the moments like this, I have no doubts that we are all united wishing your family, and other people caught in this emergency, all the luck that there is.
I am sure you will be home with your loved relatives very soon. We all, in our own ways wish, pray, and desire the best for all touched by this predicament.

    My two cents.

As usual, Yama is right on the money. Well said.
Kenneth's family and all others facing Mother nature's fury, be well.

The pictures and stories coming from the Gulf Coast are sobering. I'm particularly concerned about casino_jim, who was weathering the storm at home in Long Beach. Jim, I hope you're OK.

As of this morning, I still have a scheduled flight that will get me into Hattiesburg tonight. Hopefully it won't be cancelled before I get there. Still no communications possible into the affected area.

Thanks for all your prayers and thoughts.

    Devastation

    Kenny,
There's a story from your Hattiesburg newspaper online. Doesn't sound good. I hope all is okay with you and your family. Please keep us all informed if you can.
