    Hi all,

Played a few tourneys here and there, but really want to know more strategy.

Beyond "Casino Tournament Strategy" - are there any other good strategy guides for blackjack tourneys?

Also, from CTS - what is the most useful format to learn for tourneys:
-Competing Against Players at all tables
    -Table Winner Format
    -Match Play

I am guessing the first 2 formats are good to learn, but not sure about Match Play - I haven't seen that around alot.

    Thanks.

    There's not much published, yet.

    Stanford Wong's Casino Tournament Strategy
    Kenny Einiger's Play to Win

You can also check out some of my articles on Blackjack Tournament Strategy.

Each month, Henry Tamburin's BJ Insider newsletter also includes several tournament articles, written by some of the best in the business.
(Subscribing also gets you access to all the archives of past months, which is well worth a year's subscription price all alone.)

Back to your other question... Match play events are quite rare, though there has been talk recently of reviving the format. Most events are either elimination style (play against your table), or accumulation format (play against all tables).

The elimination style events are the most fun, and those are the events you'll see being discussed most often here.

    Hey

    Sounds good Ken.

Do you prefer the Eininger over Wong? I've heard great things about that Wong book, but I'm really only going to learn one strategy right now, and go with it for a little.

I gave yours a look - looks pretty solid, kind of info I need.

Einiger's book focuses more on basics, emphasizing a lot of items that are sometimes obvious but often overlooked. Things like reading the rules, making sure you know about any wildcard opportunities, etc.

Einiger's book is much more readable than Wong's, but doesn't have the depth of strategy information that Wong presents. Most of the strategy info in Einiger's book comes through the discussion of the key hands in some of the World Series of Blackjack matches.

For those of you that haven't read it yet, I think any tournament player will enjoy Kenny's book. I did. To answer your specific question Holmes38, you should start with Wong's book.
