You can do a search of completed auctions by title for the exact figures but from memory in the neighborhood of $500 is my recollection. Chapter 2; Just did an eBay search for you, 2 completed auctions shown.

    1) Beyond Counting, auction ended 11/19/07 used $499.99 buyer bjinsider item# 170167617143
    2) Beyond Counting, auction ended 11/21/07 new $810.00 buyer kenm17313 item# 180180515533

The auction closed today and the book sold for $515.

Anyone read the book and willing to offer a review?

I have a copy. It includes full analysis of a number of casino games, and the strategies appropriate to use against them if you are getting extra information from the dealer. For players who specialize in hole-card play (finding weak dealers who inadvertently expose cards that are supposed to be dealt face down), it's the bible.

Is it worth $515? That depends on your bankroll and skill level. It certainly could be.

A more important aspect of the book is that it really drives home the idea that profitable plays can exist in virtually any game under the right circumstances. For example, he has extensive coverage of the Big Six game, aka the "wheel of fortune". Yes, it's a sucker game. Usually, that is. ;)

The central thread of Beyond Counting is to detail how to "get an edge" on everything in Las Vegas.

For the players: how to play lots of casino games, possibly even with an advantage. For the casino personnel: how to not let the players get an edge; how to increase one's tips; etc. For the tourist: how to get to the baggage claim area of the airport ahead of your fellow passengers; how not to get taken by a cabbie; etc. For the cabbie: how to take the tourists.

The noteworthy aspect of the book is that it recognizes legal boundaries, but some of it's "advice" transcends them.

    Examples:
__ page 69: (to increase tips) the author advises cocktail waitresses to smile " the Chicago way -early and often"
__ page 120: the author informs the reader that: "many hotels in downtown . . . have regular rates which are cheaper than the 'casino rate' for some Strip hotels"

I possess a pristine copy purchased new at the Gambler's Book Club . . . and I will consider a reasonable (i.e. an unreasonably high) offer.

    How Much?

How much are you willing to sale the book for? I'm looking for it. What was the regular retail price when it was released? Just curious.

    You Suck Ken

Hello Ken. You suck man. LOL....I'm just pulling your tail bro. I envy you and I want that book. How were you able to get your hands on a copy? Or did you just buy it right after it was released in detail? Do you think there's some floating out there in bookstores? Just curious.

I bought mine at the retail price of $39.95, just after it was released.
