The May issue of BJ Insider has the following information about a tournament: July 30 – Aug 1, 2004: Robinsonville, MS The Mohegan Sun Casino & Resort in Connecticut Fourth World Series of Blackjack Entry $1000 includes room for two nights. $300,000 in prizes with $120,000 to the winner. 800-550-4473 -------------------------------------------------- Is this listing just total misinformation, or is it based on some actual tournament? One obvious problem is the juxtaposition of Robinsonville MS with the Mohegan Sun in CT. The phone number is the VIP services number for the Grand in Tunica.
The Grand in Tunica The Information was mixed up, The Mohegan Sun (in CT) held a BJ tournament call "The World Series of Blackjack" last January. The Blackjack tournaments held at the Grand in Tunica (Robinsonville, MS) are called "The World Series of Blackjack" as well. The one in Tunica will be their 4th tournament with this name over the passed few years. The Dates have also been moved to July 9 & 10, and fisrt place is $50,000. For more information a post was made on this site, look under land based casino tournaments. Hope this helps you.
There were two problems with this listing. First, it was never intended to be Mohegan Sun. I think Henry saw 'World Series' and assumed it was a repeat of the televised event. However, there's a new problem. The originally planned World Series event at Grand Tunica has been cancelled as well. They are planning an event July 9th with a $500 entry fee and $50K first place. Grand Tunica Tournament Sorry for the misinformation. The initial listing was my fault for not checking with the Grand to make sure the event was still on.
