I was told yesterday that the casino in Tama, IA was having a $10,000 guaranteed first prize BJ tournament the end of July. I came to this site to check it out and the casino is not in the list. I did find it on the web at http://www.meskwaki.com.

Now for the tournament - Doesn't say much on the web site, all it says is

    WOW! Where's the money?

$10,000 1st prize guaranteed is great and all but,

    $300 entry X 144 players = $43,200 (if they don't have any re-buys).

If not this could be the worst tournament ever, sounds like a bigger version of the Fitzgerarlds tournaments in Las Vegas, (pays out 1/4 to 2/5 of what they bring in).

Please tell me that they are going to pay all or at least most of it back as prize money. I have no problem with a casino making a profit but don't get in my pockets and then try to bend me over too! I hope they use a condom.

    Duh!

I was feeling bad about slaming the casino on my last post, not any more...LOL

What can I say, know the joke about put someone in a round room and tell them to find the corner? Well guess what call the casino and ask them about their tournament, same thing, you'll go round and round...LOL

I finally got hold of someone and it is a joke. The guaranteed is if they get 36 players.

They will pay back the entry fees (for the most part), but no re-buys, they don't know how many will advance from each table (until an hour before the start), I gelieve it is a elimination format (I asked them what the format was and they told me blackjack...lol)!

Don't think they have don't this much, if I was closer I would check it out, but don't think i'll be coming from Texas for this one. If only 36 show up it is a great deal, $10,000 for first and 2nd - 6th get $500 each. That is $10,800 in and $12,500 going out.

That's kind of what I suspected but didn't have the energy to call them for something I would never consider doing. That $300 entry pays 10 entries at the casino I go to.

I remember reading about this casino when it was opening. I think it's only been open about a year. That's no excuse though.

Thanks for the heads up mrbill!

Meskwaki is listed now, and the tournament has been added, complete with my own caution about the seemingly awful equity.

There's another pair of small events there on July 11th.
