Has anyone played in a tournament where the last bet is blind ?
That is, you write down your bet on paper and no one knows what anyone else has bet.
That is the way they do it, in our monthly BJ Tournament.

BTW congrats to all who made it to the simifinals at the Hilton and thanks to Ken for a great site. I qualified and played in the first one. I didn't play last year, but I am planing to play in it again this year.

    Blind Bet Response

I have played several tournaments which had a blind bet which could be make on the last hand (or any hand). The best you can do is go around the table and determine the optimum bet for each player and assume they will make the optimum. You then calculate your optimum bet with those assumptions.

    Blind Bets

Caesar's Palace uses the blind bet format on the final hand. The problem there is that these tournaments are invitation only, based on your play, so you wind up with some pretty lousy players which means you can't always assume they're going to bet correctly. I think this format favors protecting the low or assume everybody has a max bet. In your case you probably know the abilities of the local players which would aid in your decision making. Some of Caesar's tournaments are 50K, winner take all, which simplifies the decision making at the final table.

    Sounds like Final Jeopardy Blackjack

Was Alex Trebek your dealer? Just kidding, Yes I have played with a blind before and was differant and I enjoyed it. I think a tournament dealt down with a blind on the last hand would be interesting.

Yes, it is quite interesting and fun. You have to try and figure out what you "think" the other players have bet. How aggressive is the player ? What should they bet, watch for tells and so on. Players all start with $500 and the limits are $25 to $500. Except for the last hand, where you can Bet It All......

I just competed in my first tournament and they had a blind bet which could be used at any time. The one catch in this tournament, which I discovered during play, was that if you pushed the dealer when using it you had to let it ride. That is you could not change your "blind" bet and had to rebet it on the next hand.
