Still plenty of items on the wish list, but I did complete some enhancements to the site calendar. 1) The casino view listing now shows more recent events first, and the listings are separated into sections for "Upcoming Events" and "Past Events". For an example, see the Las Vegas Hilton listing. 2) The calendar now defaults to showing two months of future events instead of one. As always, you have complete control over the dates displayed. 3) Events can now be marked as cancelled, and they will automatically disappear from the calendar. (You can show them by clicking the Show Cancelled Events button.) (The Las Vegas Hilton listing above includes some cancelled events in the listing, so you can see how they are indicated there.)
Great improvement to the tournament calendar, Thanks. Is there some way to purge events 1 or 2 years + old.
I disagree about purging - a little. I like to see a history of events at a given casino so I can see trends. Certaintly not cretical but I find it interesting. Maybe the thing to do is purge events after, say, 10 years. At that point in time there would seem to be little, if any, interest. On a separate note, thanks Ken for your never ending efforts to imporve this site.
I'm thinking 10 years would be "too much clutter" and 2-4 years would be more realistic but that's just me. Yes, Ken deserves a lot of credit for the continued improvement of his sites and the providership (is that a word?) of them! Billy C
I introduced a bug with the recent changes, that was showing new events posted to the calendar as "Updates" instead. It's now fixed, although the automated CalendarBot listings for the last few days all still show Update.
Fixed a couple more issues today, including a long-standing issue with Macs and the Safari web browser. I don't have a Mac to test with so if someone wants to try adding a tournament on that platform let me know how it goes. More coming soon.
The latest update should be a nice improvement. If you are entering an event at a casino and there are existing upcoming events at that casino, you'll be shown the list of upcoming events before you can continue. This should eliminate the duplicate event entries that have often been an issue.
Today's update adds a "Tournament Webpage" field to each event. If the casino has a specific webpage devoted to a particular event you can now note the web address during event entry. Here's an example for the LV Hilton event beginning today: https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/oldtourn/viewtourn.php?infoID=1647
