Can you all smell the blackjack explosion in the air?

    - UBT info release @ playubt.com
    - UBT Aruba info released (, JoeP, Ken, KennyE and "Be in Action") @ ultimatebet.com
    - UBT St. Kitts info released @ bet21.com

    plus...

    Blackjack21.com
    Get21.com

    and of course, global-player.com

    plus.. Rick Jensen's Tour!

People say no to 6:5 Blackjack, I say no to "invitational" tourneys because I never get invited.

    VIP tourneys

I assume you mean invitational "ONLY" tourneys. Why say no to a free tournament and room?

As far as everything else you mentioned I am keeping my fingers crossed that they are successful promoting their blackjack tournaments.

    Sidekick:

playubt.com - no changes for the past 2 months except the countdown to 16 days
Ultimatebet.com - Aruba schedule has been up and the UBT section is being treated like an add-on sideshow
bet21.com - looks cool but not up and running with 4 weeks to go.
I hear you talking about smelling it in the air - I just want something solid and concrete - something to sink my teeth into not just promises and teases! Give me dates and actual tourney's or give me ................
    (death seemed over the top)

Hope to see you at BJ21.com 2nite!

    Listen to this..

    My friend...

Kenny E spoke to exactly what your requesting. If possible, please listen to this particular show:

07/20/06 -- Guest Hal Marcus developer of Blackjack 6-7-8

    or

07/13/06 -- UBT Tour stops are revealed/Joe Pane group discovered

WARNING: At the current time, both of those archived shows are down.

I wish I knew who was going to make it to the World Series. All I know right now is that there are about 20 teams vying to make it to the playoffs in the MLB. Thats good enough for me. Once October 1st, I'm sure that list of 20 teams will drop down to 8 than to 2.

In the meantime, I'll keep checking mlb.com to view any changes in the standings.

One Tourney and Already See the Pattern

Two players on my table increased their bankrolls from 25K to around 140K+ by the second elimination hand. The third elimination was all but irrelevant because one player was ahead by about three max bets and betting minimum. I felt I was better off betting max and chasing the leader than making carefully calibrated low to medium bets just to try to survive elimination. So, I busted out on hand 24.

What's the point surviving elimination on hand 25 if by doing so you make timid bets that hurt your chances on hand 30?

Or am I missing some fundamental principle of elimination blackjack?

On a lighter note, it definitely was alot of fun for free.:)

    Abberation

I've seen/heard of that sort of thing happening before (players increasing BRs by 3, 4 or 5X). It's unusual but not outside of what could be expected statistically. It's the online poker player mentality, they'll soon see that throwing big bets around all the time will bust them more than it will win. We saw the same at blackjack21.com but that settled down. I played about 10 games tonight and by the time I played my last one most people were playing a more measured and calculated game and some of them were quite good. Thankfully in my last tourney BR2 locked himself out of winning position so there is still obviously a learning curve going on :) And I didn't have to wait more than a minute for those games to get started after I registered.

UBT style BJ is clearly a different kettle of fish but it is a good game, fun to play and will require a whole new skill set for players to be successful at it. There is no doubt it will bring lots of new players into the game, witness 500+, I'll repeat that, 500+ players in a MTT on the 1st night the game site was up and running. Global and BJ21.com can only dream of that sort of those sorts of numbers . It's a good thing! We should embrace it!

    Cheers

Well now, we've had a week to digest elimination BJ tourney style and my have things changed.

Certain people seem to be having a lot of difficulty with the game - technical aspects I'm speaking of. Connection problems, etc....

I've been waiting to hear an "official" announcement from Ultimate Bet via e-mail - remember when we all signed up on the playubt.com site?

The televised version begins in 8 days! Any idea who the players will be for week one?

With all the "hype" in my personal opinion the game itself (EBJ) is exciting and lively. It is a different animal and I think that the rule changes have put that twist that makes it difficult for some (ok for me)

So any idea about "other" EBJ sites?

Henry Tamburin published this note in the most recent BJ Insider:

"Speaking of the UBT, the first show will premier Saturday, Sept.16 on CBS at 2 pm EST. The players include BJI contributing writers Kenneth Smith and "Hollywood" Dave Stann, "Big" Chuck Gorson (who beat me on the last hand in a preliminary UBT round), Michael Castellana and poker pros "Miami" John Cernuto and Alex Brenes. The show is exciting from start to finish - don't miss seeing it."

    Show list?

    Ken,

Is there a list somewhere of which shows are airing which dates? If someone can post it or at least give us a heads up each week that would be nice.

BTW, I think they picked one of the best shows to air first. Everyone needs to set their VCRs and DVRs to record this show!

It would be nice if there were some way to get this our friends across the pond too!

Here are the dates of the known shows (from Las Vegas Advisor), but I haven't seen any information about which show is which. There is also some variation in the time of each show, so be careful about the schedule.

    Sept 16/23/30, Oct 14, Nov 4/18/25, Dec 25/30

That's only 9 dates, so there's one that isn't yet scheduled.
