What are the chances of winning a double down before the cards are even dealt? If one is behind BRN more than a max bet on the last hand and BRN bets the minimum one obviously has to double down and win (or getting a natural or split of course) in order to overtake BRN. I did not find any numbers on that. Please help me out. Tony
Around 30% Knowing before the cards are dealt that you'll need to win two bets on the next hand, you have about a 30% shot. For a more precise number, I'll have to check some notes I have at home about this, and of course it depends on whether a blackjack must be doubled or not.
