All those in the Texas metroplex that would like to donate to help the victims of hurricane Kitrina I will be hosting both Poker & Blackjack tournaments at Hooters in N. Arlington, (hopefully other locations will join in).

We are working on a date ASAP, everybody is welcome. Pokernut even said he will come in from Tunica, MS to help support the event. Pokernut if you just want to send in a couple of hundred dollars instead (about what it would cost you in gas or airfare to come up here) that would be fine and possiblly help out better, your choice.

I have gotten several two night stays at Sam's Town in Shreveport, LA and Las Vegas trips (for two) from Dallas as prizes. More coming in everyday.

This is just a fun way to make you dig deep and help others in need. If you can't make it and want to send money you may do so. Please make checks or money orders to: Hooters. *Note: For Kitrina relief fund. 2214 Laurel Oaks Dr.
    Irving, TX 75060

Any donation you can spare is welcome, God Bless.

    Has the date been determined?

When & where is this. Are you talking about the Hooters on North Collins by the ballpark?

    Nice work again, TX

It'd be impossible for me to make it but I'd like to donate. I'm sure much of the readership here commends you for your resourcefulness.

Ken, Casino Jim, Walt et. al. - you know we're all worried sick about what your situation might be, please let us know when the opportunity arises.

Tex when you get the details of your tourneys, buy-ins, entry fees, amount going to chairty etc. please post them. Here in Tunica various events are being planned: Sam's Town is having a concert with all proceeds going to the Red Cross, the Grand is planning a poker tournament $200 buy-in/ $200 rebuy $25 entry fee with 40% of the buy-in and rebuys going to Charity and 100% of the entry fee going to Charity (the last charity poker event drew 280 entrants), the Grand also is providing Free rooms to evacuees. Also our Governor has stated any looters will be shot if necessary to stop them, also new casinos will be built on land not water (the state does not like losing $500 million a day in taxes).

    Ken and family safe

Ken Smith just called me and Jan, Matthew, and Ken are all safe and in Tunica now. Other then the loss of about 20 trees he said the house was in good shape (very lucky).

I also heard Peter Nathan talked to Richard Rockwell and he got out okay as well. No one has heard from Loyd and Rita Bagot, Sandi Newbold, and Jimmy so far. Anyone hearing from these players or any others please post and let us know.

As of now it looks like the fund rasier event will be Sept. 10th (Sat.) at the N. Collins and Hyw. 30, Hooters at 7:00 - 1:30. I will be posting more info as I get it. I am also trying to get Lone Star Park to host a event for Kitrina relief.

Damn the casino do good, but to pay $500 million a day in taxes for the number of casinos damaged seems pretty high there Pokernut.

mistake: should be $500 thousand a day from the coast casinos.

    That right?

Now that fiqure sounds to low? I would think the state would pull in more then $5,000 for the casinos that were damaged per day?

That's only about $500 per casino, per day, or less (that is if only 10 casinos are down!

What is the states take on taxes from the casinos in MS?

The $500,000 per day the state will lose was based only on the casinos in Biloxi as they are the hardest hit and destroyed. They expect the other casinos to reopen soon. The tax rate is 17% divided between the state, county and cities in that county.

    Good and Bad

I was just informed last night that Texas Wings, the owners of the Texas Hooters has canceled the casino for the N. Arlington Fund Raisier this Sat. Sept. 10th.

Instead they are planning a big fund raisier with all the stores at a later date. I will post when and where as soon as I find out.

Now don't think that Hooters isn't doing anything for the victims of Katrina. From the first day a local radio station and Hooters hooked up to start collecting donations and pledged at least $1,000,000 in dontions. I was at least able to donate some of the gifts that were bid on.
