Dr. Bass and I will be there...

We both get in on Saturday May 19th, the day before the blackjack tournaments start and we are staying until Monday the 28th the day after they end.

With the extra $5,000 prize money for the highest point total for the week Eric is putting up for grabs it is worth going up for all the events.

Little word of advice, book your rooms early if you want in the main hotel, remember Cherokee is hosting Scotty Nguyen poker tournaments at the same time and rooms go FAST up there.

Cherokee Nation: Cherokee Tribe! So hard to live. So hard to Die!

Well huzzah. If this ain't da T's, I'm savin my pennies, hopin for a lottery ticket win, donations, standin on the corner with a sign, begging for food and work, since I'm homless and far far away from home and need a partner for "Jack and Jill", won't somebody take a chance on me, cause I ain't so bad.

If TX works his event in on Friday, it would be the iceing on the cruissant for this!

And if in doubt, don't worry bout rooms at THE INN, there are plenty of off site, close by Hi-way motels, with your typical Hi-way eateries.

Don't know, sactly how, rightchnow, but I's gotta get there.

    Here: Listen at ya'lll.

    Week long tournies.

    Week long overlays.

    Week long equity.

    Week long comradarie.

    Competition.

    Work, work, work.

    Money, money, money.

Beat the odds of the dust bowl.

Cowboys and Indians. Better than TV reruns.

If I have to walk, I'll be there. Already scouted some great bushes locations and hot dog stands.

I will arrive on Wednesday afternoon and leave on Monday. Really looking forward to a good time with a fun group. I have not been there before but have heard wonderful reports about previous events.

No TBJPA on Friday, no time to offer 2 guaranteed re-buys, part of the TBT requirement. However the TBJPA may sanction the events if: (1) Open to all (2) Allow a re-buy or reentry (3) two players advance (min) from each table throughout the tournament.

    I should know more soon.

Just for reference... there's a Hostess/Wonder Bread outlet store at 11th and Sheridan, 8 miles or so from Cherokee Casino. I believe they're open 'til 7pm most nights. Boxes and boxes of Twinkies at discount prices. ;)

    Cherokee Joe:

    Sorry to be so late:

I'm there in my best drag. For many a halloweeenie, folks told me I made an attractive, stunning moll. Now that was in my younger days when I could fake being a knockout. Now, I just have to settle for being a stately matron, a spitting image of THE QUEEN.

And I'm glad to hear about the twinkie stash. But, where, oh where in Oklahoma can one find quality tuna fish?

I'm sure not going to. I stopped in Wed afternoon. You have to pay for each hand you play. I don't believe with this fee they charge, you could have an expectation of winning

Dat's for the normal, regular, BJ.
The tourney's wit the money added are Tourney rules.

Pay your entry and be the best, without rake and you've got an overlay and a competitive sit ye ation.

For anyone coming to the tournament and interested in cash play... a few casinos offer "free ante" during certain times/days ("free" meaning the casino pays the ante for the player). Million Dollar Elm in Sand Springs (west of Tulsa) currently has "free ante" on Sundays, Mondays and Wednesdays. They're redoing their table area this week, if anyone wants a rules update prior to the Cherokee event, just let me know.

Dude, can't help you on the tuna fish but two great local seafood places are White River Fish Market and Bodeans Seafood. (White River being the less expensive and informal, Bodeans being a little more upscale).

Or if you're in the mood for free:D, QuikTrip convenience stores (there's one across the highway from Cherokee Casino) will give you a free hot dog and drink for joining their email list (http://www.qtwebgroup.com/qtwebgroup_about.asp) (also a great place for those coming to the tourney to get some gas, beer, etc).

And on the topic of food, McGill's Restaurant at the Casino is part of a local chain, so better than your normal in-casino eatery. On busy nights, reservations are required, not just recommended.

I'm violating a rule,(of my own) but after chapter one in my home study course, I feel confident enough to respond, with THANKS for the "tips" on eateries around Cherokee.

I particularly like the free hot dog and drink.

Do you think I could go in multiple days, under multiple names to get multiple hot dogs?

And do you know of any high bushes of cover, slightly above sagebrush, close to Cherokee, that I can use for off hours relaxation and undisturbed sleep? And nothing already claimed by a local. I really hate getting accosted by local homeless, whether on their territory or on public transportation.

    Cherokee Players Club

For anyone coming to the tournament, I'd suggest joining their Players Club and taking advantage of the following opportunities...

$5 Cash - new member sign up bonus
$5 Cash - Sun or Tues - used to be for bringing in newsletter coupon but now just show up and present card at club desk (once per week)
$5 Cash - Mon - Ladies night - ladies present card at club desk
$5 Cash - Wed - Mens night - men present card at club desk

You won't die rich at that rate, but it sure beats a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
