I don't have any details yet, but Cherry Casino is having a promotion they're calling Holiday Bonanza.

    From their email:
This Holiday season we’re throwing in a whopping $10,000 to get you in the best of holiday spirits. Get ready for daily tournaments - daily prizes and a huge pile of money for the overall winner. The Holiday bonanza starts Monday 20th and ends Thursday 23rd.

    Sounds interesting.

I just recieved the following info from Cherry's:

Thanks for your interest in CherryCasino.

We would like to let you now that as soon as the casino decides the exact date of the tournament, an email will be send to all our customers in order for them to be informed and to participate

Hmm. I wonder if this means the Dec 20th date is suspect, or instead that the support team doesn't have all the info. I'll try to follow up.

    More details

The dates were changed... Here's the revised schedule, with more details:

At Cherry Casino, every day from Dec 27th to 30th, there's a new tournament, running from 9 AM ET to midnight.

Here's a full schedule, with prizes:

Monday, Dec 27th: Blackjack, Roulette, Jacks or Better, Skeet Shooter:
    Prizes: $500/$250/$175/$100/$50/$25/$10/$10/$10/$10

Tuesday, Dec 28th: Blackjack, Roulette, 3 Hands Poker, Pirates Gold:
    Prizes: $500/$250/$175/$100/$50/$25/$10/$10/$10/$10

Wednesday, Dec 29th: Blackjack, Roulette, 3 Hands Joker, Wild West:
    Prizes: $500/$250/$175/$100/$50/$25/$10/$10/$10/$10

Thursday, Dec 30th: Blackjack, Roulette, Joker Poker, Gold Rush:
    Prizes: $1000/$500/$300/$250/$175/$150/$100/$75/$25/$10

Then, on New Years Eve, the top 10 total players in total points will share $4000 in additional prizes.

Add it all up and it's $10,000 in prize money.

    Same tournament, in Euros

This same event is also being held at Cherry Casino's sister site Casino Euro.

However, because that event has prizes in Euros instead of dollars, it's more valuable. The current exchange rate is around $1.35 US to 1 Euro, so that means approximately $13,500 in prizes. Same dates, same games, same prizes, but in Euros.

I haven't played there yet, but I don't think there will be an issue with US players registering and playing there.

    More information on these tournaments

I had no problems registering and depositing at Casino Euro.
($137.97 transferred into 100 Euros). The times for that event are Central European time which is confusing. Therefore, here are the times in good ol' US Eastern time: Each tournament day at Casino Euro runs from 3 AM EST to 6 PM EST.

As usual, these Net Entertainment casinos do a bad job of explaining their tournaments. It's nearly impossible to find any mention on their websites. On the Casino Euro website there is a main page to Holiday Bonanza info. On the Cherry Casino site, it's only mentioned in the news scroll on the right, with no link. Here's a page mentioned in my email though:

Since they're not very helpful, I'll try to cover most of the bases...

These events take place at the regular live-money tables, so you'll have to deposit to play. There's no entry fee. The same leaderboard is shared among all the games involved in the tournament each day so you can play whichever game you prefer. In each case, you must play 100 games to qualify, though your results will begin appearing in the leaderboard after playing 10 games (maybe less).

You can safely play these tournaments without understanding the scoring system, but if you're like me, you'll wonder. So, how is your score determined?

It's the average percentage payout of each game you played. For example:
If I play blackjack, bet $1 and push, my payout on that hand is 100% (remember a "payout" includes your original bet.) I bet $1, and I was paid $1. If I then bet $1 and get blackjack paying $2.50, what's my score so far?

    (100 + 250) / 2 = score of 175.

Let's say I double down the next hand and lose. My payout on that hand is 0%. My score is now (100 + 250 + 0) / 3 = 116.7

That's how it works. Your username in the leaderboard will light up (appear in a brighter color) when you've completed the required 100 games.

    Good luck!

    Yes!

I nabbed first place on day 1 at Casino Euro for 500 Euros. Now I'll head over to Cherry to see if I can make it two in one day.

    Not a bad day

Done deal. Two in one day. I picked up first place at both Cherry and Euro on day one of their events.

    On a little roll

    Congrat's Ken,

Damm Ken is that three finals in a roll (counting the LVH MD III)?

Yes, I'm on a roll, even if...

It's not really three finals in a row, since these two events weren't elimination style. Instead, all competitors are ranked according to average payout percentage per hand. I've got a few angles, but it still took some luck to pick off both in one day. Now I'll see if I can duplicate my success on day two.

    A Win

If even with no finals, it is still a WIN! In this case two of them. Congrat's again.

    No luck today

Not much luck either place today. I may hang on for a $25 or $10 prize at Cherry today, but Euro was a complete bust. Oh well, tomorrow's another day!

    Cherry Casino question

Can someone please explain to me how some of the participants are achieving
300 and up returns. I saw one up to 700. How is that possible?

    There are other games

In blackjack, the highest possible score is 250, if you got blackjack 100 consecutive times.
(Blackjack pays out 2.5 times your initial bet. Remember, the return of your initial bet is counted in there too.)

However, each day features several games that you can play, and those other games have the possibility of higher payouts. For example, if you play roulette and hit a number straight up, the payout is 36 for 1. If you did that 100 times in a row (yeah, right, and you thought the 100 blackjacks was unlikely!), your score would be a whopping 3600.

Video poker can produce some high payouts as well.

Most of the high scores you see are likely the result of a large hit on either video poker or the slots that are included in the game.

    The final day

    I pulled off another 500 dollar / 500 Euro double-play today.
Day four featured higher prize money, and I picked up 2nd place at Euro and 2nd place at Cherry. I should get some of the 4000 $/Euro prizes for the top ten leader board at one or both places, though I don't know how that works yet.

    On the four days:
    At Cherry I placed 1st, 7th, nowhere, and 2nd.
At Euro I placed 1st, nowhere, nowhere, and 2nd.

Gosh, I hope they do this again soon!

Congrats to ya, Ken. And Happy New Year to you and Jan. Maybe this will carry over to your Vegas trip.
