I assume all ClubUBlackjackT members have received an email about the changes being implemented as of September 1. Here is my take on the new changes:

500 TPs: Great idea! This will help keep players in the game longer each and every day should players decide to play in numerous tournaments.
Late night action: Nice addition. But why not have tournaments running 'round the clock and more often than they currently are running during peak times?
More satellites: Great idea! This will allow those players who can't make it to the 1,000 TP level to qualify for the larger-prize tournaments by winning a satellite.
Happy Hour: Nice idea, though currently, I only see two tournaments added for poker during this hour, and none for blackjack. I assume they will be posted shortly.
Double Your Pleasure: Nice change. But apparently, this is only being implemented for Sit-n-Gos. In a previous post on another forum, Joe Pane said, "Double the points paid back as to the amount collected in selected tournaments." It's a shame that it's only on the lowest level tournaments -- the $10 Sit-n-Gos. This is no help in the larger tournaments which have apparently gotten WORSE when it comes to points. Take the September 4 cruise tournament on the blackjack side:

The buy-in has been RAISED from 750 TPs to 1,000 TPs. However, the prize structure remains the SAME. Which means if you make it to the semi-final round, having advanced through the first three (or two in smaller player-pool tournaments), you will still only collect 900 TPs meaning you will LOSE 100 points for playing so well! Oh, and if you advance from the semi-finals to the finals, you will only break even with 1,000 TPs for 4th, 5th, and 6th place. Third place and 2nd place net 100 points! With the cruise tournament now open to 300 players (up from 200), if you come in 2nd out of 300, you win 100 points!!!!! Isn't that worth your while!
Doing an analysis on a 300 player tournament, the largest number of players who will get any TPs back is 39, a whopping 13%! And 33 of those 39 will actually lose points! Compare that to the poker side. With 300 players buying in, that's 300,000 TPs in total buy-ins. How many TPs are given back in the player pool? Would you believe 33,400! Yep, just over 11%. Need I say more?

So the inequity between blackjack and poker still continues...and looks like it may have gotten even worse with the player pool being raised to 300. Nice job for the ClubUBlackjackT BLACKJACK players.

(I am PMing Joe Pane to get the email address of the person at the club who will actually look carefully at what I'm presenting and will actually understand its importance and is willing and ABLE to right this wrong.)

I see it differently. Now that every player will have at least 500 points every day and that there will be satellites for any tournament with an entry fee higher than 500 points... all the club players will easily enter any tournament they want, so they won't care about losing points anymore. UNLESS there would be many tournaments in the SAME DAY with an entry fee higher than 500 points, but it's not the case right now.

But currently, I'm under the impression that these changes will make points worthless and I'm just wondering if it would have the same effect to remove completely the point system and let any member enter any tournament for free, which is not desirable.

Well, just a first impression, let's see how it goes in the next month.

Good for new members but suck for members who have built up points. I think it will turn the tourneys into all-in feasts. After all new members will have their ponts replaced every day.

Time will tell about these changes. Obviously, they're expecting a minor avalanche of new paying members as soon at the TV shows start up on 9/1. For the Club to survive, that has to happen, because if promotion on a major TV network doesn't open the floodgates of new members, nothing will.

I kind of agree with you Pokernut, even though I hadn't built up points until now. Whatever system they use should cost people TPs when they want to pla for big prizes, which they would have to work to replenish.

Is it my misunderstanding or didn't they mention that there would be a "Beat the Pro's" night?

The good news: I just reached the first BJ final table I'd played in over a month. Late-night $20 affair. (Yeah, I've really been cold as of late. Or maybe my strategy is bad. Always a possibility.)

The bad news: Already in last place on hand #8, I ended up being the only loser on the hand, so bye-bye me.

The 'ugly' news (and the point that ties this into this thread): HollywoodDave was on my left, so "Meet the Pros" is apparently going on quite strong. :D
