I just had this e-mailed to me about Congress cracking down on internet gambling sites which include:

All poker sites, Blackjack, Roulette, Video poker...etc.

Here is the link: Congress cracks down on web gambling

Not sure if this will effect tournaments or not?

If so the WSOP be sure have a lower turnout next year with the elimination of online satellite events. Also this could effect the UBT online satellites and Global-Player if online tournaments are not legal in the the U.S., this would not be good for us.

    Election Year

Bible Belt politicians have to do things like this during election years if they want to keep their jobs.:flame: This kind of legislation never goes anywhere.

They'll no more enforce this new legislation, if it becomes law, than they enforce the current laws on the books. We have nothing to worry about.

If anything, they're paving the way toward regulating the industry through the WTO. That would be a good thing.

Legislation at the Federal level has been introduced every year for the last few years, but has always either died in committee (this one didn't), or the congressional calendar ran out of time before it made it to the floor (sounds likely this year), or the Senate and House had differing versions of the bill and efforts to reconcile them failed (could still happen this time).

Hopefully one of these typical fates lies in the future of the two bills introduced this year.

Eventually, our government will have to join the rest of the world in regulating online gambling, rather than pursuing a policy of prohibition that doesn't serve the government or the citizens well.
