Great news for the coverage of GSN's World Series of Blackjack second season!

You probably remember the great posts made by our member 'toonces' immediately after each episode of the original series aired. Within an hour or two of broadcast, toonces posted his in-depth coverage of every hand, and it was a great start to each episode's thread of discussion.

I've arranged for toonces to provide the same service when the new episodes hit the air in late January. I can't wait!

Hey, what else have I got to do on a cold Chicago Monday night? I'm looking forward to another season of second-guessing the pros and the wanna-bes. As for me, I'm taking my first shot at the MDBJ Hilton tourney in December. I'd love to meet any other WSoBJ players or posters here, so PM me so I can give you my real name (or Ken Smith knows it).

WSOB II change for second season

Instead of Monday nights, GSN is planning on showing the WSOB II on Firday nights.

First show scheduled for 10 PM (EST) Friday, January 21st.

  4. Premiere episode

Although the schedule is still tentative, it looks like they are leading off with the first round match that pitted me against two of the tournament giants (Hollywood Dave and Joe Pane). I can only guess that the reason GSN is starting with this show is that I am much, much better looking than Rick Jensen and they don't want to scare off their audience too early in the series by showing too much of our favorite Texan on TV.

I was just teasing Rick. You will probably come across as the most interesting of all the 40 players when the episodes air on TV. I think for shows like this to be successful, they have to have colorful characters and you have the perfect personality for that. The people at GSN did a terrific job with this production and I think it will translate into great television viewing next year.

    WSoBJ2 recap update

OK...so I was a little confused. Last year, being at home on a Monday night to write a recap until 1:00 AM was no big deal. But, I'm afraid that there's no way I can plan on spending every Friday night at home for three months recapping a blackjack TV show while my girlfriend twiddles her thumbs upstairs. And Ken and I both know that people are going to want to read the recaps and comment right away, so that means that it looks like Ken will be the one exercising his TiVo finger for your amusement this year. :D
