    Hello,

I'm new to this forum and have enjoyed reading the posts. I've competed in a few cruise ship black jack tournaments and realize now my strategy was all wrong. Most of what I read here is geared toward land based casinos which seem to have more hands per tournament. Can anyone give me some tips to use on the cruise ship which only have seven hands in the final round?
Also to qualify they take the the highest 7 chip counts from 7 hand rounds. Any advice on how to bet those?

I appreciate any advice. I've read the tournament tips on blackjackinfo.com

    Cheers,
    Yeldarb

I really don't like cruise ship tournaments for just that reason. They rely very very little on skill, and almost entirely on luck. IMO you are throwing your money away to even play. However, the entry fees are very low, so it's no big loss either way. Joep is right though, the only way to play them is to go all in (or max bet) every hand.

    Welcome Yeldarb

This cruise blackjack tournaments are run different from the BJ tournaments held by the ship.

The 7-10 hand tournaments they host are best played just like Joep suggested start off big and don't let up. Anytime you have an acculative style format you need to win big and often, this style format requires more luck then the normal BJ tournaments.

    no pro but

I'm not a pro but I did win the two BJ tournaments on my last cruise. Many played the heavy betting style but in both finals it came down to me and one other in the last two hands, I had a good lead both times by the 6th hand and it was from one or two medium sized bets when. In my experience playing to survive and making the big decisions on the last 3 hands makes the win. I was in last place in chip count till the 4th round where the leaders got clobbered with their large bets trieng to stay ahead of one another.

    Just my two cents..
