Many thanks to those who have supported this new Open Tournament opportunity. I think we’ve got a keeper here that is worthy of our support so we can see where it could lead to. I’d think that any comments by those who played the July event and/or plan to play the August or October events might be helpful to any readers who are looking for a land based, pre Covid quality, all cash Open Blackjack Tournament. August is $30k, October is $40k.

Thanks PitchMan! Yes Todd and I attended the July event and we had a great time, we have never been to Paragon before. The tournament and seeing fellow players that we have met over the past years made it an exceptional trip. If you are into slot or other table play we also put in some time with this and had some luck here and there, wide variety of slots and table games and friendly dealers and staff. Despite being the first tournament they did very well, the things that they struggled with they know how to rectify for next one, and they were open to suggestions. I can't wait to go back later this month. I want it to succeed! The structure of the tournament was one we really liked, similar if not same as Buffalo Run, usually top two out of qualifying rounds, the buy in is reasonable for the payouts. They were very welcoming to all players, they had sandwiches fruit and cake for the players both days. We did not stay at the casino hotel but are planning on it this time. They have decent rates for the tournament players. The tournament director was very good at managing any issues that came up in rounds, made the right decision if there was a misdeal or problem on a table. She has many years of experience in table games. If you are considering coming don't sit on the fence, come and play you will not be disappointed!

The BJT season is pretty well shutting down along with the year 2023 here in the central chunk of the US. Hard Rock Biloxi is hanging in there with November ($30k), and December ($25k) cash events, Golden Nugget Biloxi ($10k cash for first, plus promo for the rest), December event, plus some small weekly and monthly tournaments sprinkled in at HRB and Paragon. Everything we’re aware of in this area plus Golden Nugget Las Vegas event dates listed in the calendar at https://www.bjtusa.com.

I’m hopeful that Hard Rock Biloxi will keep their enduring series going in the new year and from feedback I’ve gotten from Paragon I have no reason to think we won’t get 3 or 4 $30k or so events, maybe even some smaller ones to fill in the gaps between them.

We have to applaud Hard Rock Biloxi for their admirable commitment since they jumped out as the first events after Covid. The one day format is convenient for many. The 12 hand game and especially the no max bet rule catch a lot of criticism from some players but their decent all cash purses have drawn a decent turnout several months of this year.

Paragon’s $100,000 three tournament series of two day events was a huge success, leaving those participating in them thirsting for more next year. Not to take away from the appreciation for HRB that dedicated BJT players feel, but the Paragon events have brought back the excitement that was only last experienced since we lost Buffalo Run.

i’m getting a hearing from three properties in this central US but they are probably a ways from being confirmed if ever, but our dedicated group of players is growing and with each new name we add to the list we have more proof to show properties we’re serious about supporting them if they’ll give us a shot.
