Prizes are paid with regular chips. They can be cashed in immediately. No need for additional play. The semifinalists receive $100 in use once promo chips. These are added on by the casino and are not part of the 100% cash redistribution for 1st-7th.

Thanks fellows. I'm considering this one. The only Tunica casino I've been to is the Grand. Am I right in thinking that Sams Town is within 15 minutes of the Grand? It's been 7 years or more (maybe 10 or 12) since I've been to Tunica.

Come on down and bring your northern friends. Sam's Town has plenty of 9/6 JOB machines in .25, .50, and 1 dollar denominations. Also 3/2 single deck blackjack and double deck with good rules. It is 8 miles down the road from the Grand (now Harrah's). The only downside is there is no shuttle from the Memphis airport, and taxi would be too expensive. You would have to rent a car. The dealers are friendly and the tournament staff welcomes outsiders. You would know many of the members of this site that play this tournament.

Come on down Billy, and as Deltaduke said, bring some of the Meskwaki tournament crowd with you. You'll get plenty of good food and southern hospitality and you'll see several from MS, AR, TN , MO & TX that you've met at the Meskwaki event. This is a good cash tournament and with good turnout it has paid as high as $18K for first.

Thanks you two, for the "personal" invitations. My chances of being there are probably 50/50 right now. The obstacles are the over 1400 mile drive (round trip) and some serious family and girlfriend's health issues that may or may not be resolved by that time.
I love to drive but it's almost necessary to find another player to ride along and help with the gas expense. I'll probably come alone though if the other issues come out okay. I'd really like to get back down there and see you folks. I liked Tunica before and I'm sure that I still would.
    I'm hoping it works out.
Does Ken Smith usually play in this one? It's been ages since I've seen him.

Not lately. I haven't had reason to be in Tunica in a long while. It's a 300 mile drive for me each way, which isn't that big a deal, but still it takes some effort.
The fact that I might could see Billy C is compelling, because as he notes, it's been ages.
Unfortunately, that weekend is out for me regardless. My son is competing in mock trial debate state finals that weekend in Jackson.

Best of luck to your son, Ken. This is high school debate, right? Where is he going to go to college? I'm sure he was a little kid when I saw him with you in Tunica many years ago and that may have been the last time that I saw you. Hopefully, we'll hook up one of these days before I get too damn old!

Yes, he's in 10th grade this year. We're about a year out from starting to get serious about choosing a school.

And, Moses, I don't think it's permanent. He's more interested in engineering disciplines at the moment. We'll see.

I regret to say that I won't attend this event. The family and girlfriend health issues are resolved but the $3.45 gas (local current price) and the weather are the reasons. We have a predicted low "actual" temperature of -20 to -30 degrees for Thursday night and I'll need to stay here to prevent freeze-ups.
Good luck to you guys. I'll get down there for a future event.

Good morning Billy. We'd like to see you but understand. I think we're all ready for the thaw and some Springtime, .... A twisterless Springtime is preferrable. :)
Resorts is supposed to have one in April (It's a good cash event - First place paid just over $13K last time), and Sams has another scheduled for May 30/31. Maybe you can make those. Hopefully the health issues can be resolved soon.

Thank you. The health and family issues are pretty much resolved. It's the weather and gas prices that dictated the decision this time.
Is Resorts in the Tunica area? As I said in a previous post, the old Grand is the only Tunica casino that I've been to. How many more are in that same area?

Time to tout another BJT feature, the searchable casino list with mapping...

From the links at the top, in the Tournaments drop down, choose Casino List.

Put "Robinsonville" in for the city, and click search.
If you didn't happen to know that Tunica casinos are located in Robinsonville (likely everyone!), you could have put MS in for the state instead, and narrowed it down from there.

But, a search for Robinsonville yields a list of the 9 casinos in Tunica. Then you can click Map all 9 casinos to see them.

For the record, they are Bally's, Fitz, Gold Strike, Harrah's (that's the old Grand), Hollywood, Horseshoe, Resorts, Sams Town, and Roadhouse.

Nice feature, Ken. Can I presume that all 9 of those are within 15 minutes of each other?

Yes, a 10 minute drive will take you between any Tunica casinos. You will need a car, for both the 30 mile drive from Memphis airport and getting between casinos in Tunica.
