What is the problem with Fitzgeralds in Tunica getting information to tournament players?

They have a tournament scheduled for the 24th of January and didn't even send out snail mail until the 7th of January to announce it. They have made it a point that they have the email addresses of previous participants but don't use ALL those addresses. The tournament was posted on here in December, a one month notice. The tournament is still not posted on their website.

I can't understand why it is so difficult for them to decide when they will have a tournament and then to get the information out in a timely manner. They have been conducting these tournaments for quite some time and do run them well.

Yet their ability to notifiy potential players has gotten worse. Or is it that they are trying to restrict who comes to their tournaments?

If you've played in previous tournaments, the Fitz Casino Hosts were contacting potential players last week as I was.

I normally play tournaments at various Oklahoma Indian casinos. They aren't the best at promoting their tournaments via their websites either.

By the way, this tournament begins the evening of Friday, Jan 22nd.

The firsts round will be continued into Saturday. If you can't get there in time for the early bird rounds on Friday, it is no problem, you can still play two rounds plus a rebuy (if needed) on Saturday the 23rd

I have played in all of the ones at Fitzgeralds. I am saying that there is no excuse for contacting players only ONE week in advance. The dates of this tournament had to have been finalized long ago and there is no excuse for not snail mailing and emailing previous players as soon as dates were firm. I don't live in the Memphis area and can't just "pop in" for a tournament.

I hope everyone who goes to this tournament makes it known that they need to do much better on getting the word out. This has been a complaint in the past by a lot of people.

In the past they have even been able to announce the dates of the next tournment by Sunday.

That may very well be the intent - making it as difficult as possible for out-of-town players to make plans/arrangements.

This thread shows the value to members if all members post to the Calendar on this site as soon as tournaments are known. This tournament was originally posted to the Calendar on 12/25/09. I updated that posting on 12/29/09. So the original poster knew some information on or before 12/24/09 (no mail on 12/25/09) and posted it in a timely manner. I must have received the info by snail mail by 12/29/09. Mailings (if one exists) for most tournaments are usually sent out 1 to 2 months before the event so my receipt was just outside the 1 month range.

Not trying to defend anyone, just stating some facts.

Unrelated to the Fitz, I just received (01/20/10) a mailing from the Horseshoe-Southern Indiana. That mailing was their calendar of events for January. Talk about timing. :D
