Has anyone played in this in the past? does anyone know the format that will be used? i will be playing my first live tournament here and was curious how it was.
Babz, There is a calendar of events section listed on the left hand side of the main page. It lists most of the upcoming events...... Here is this event..... https://www.blackjacktournaments.com/oldtourn/viewtourn.php?infoID=1231 Good luck, practice counting chip stacks before the first round.
All tournaments, at all locations, do change from time to time. Historically, this is a summary of the Flamingo BJ Tournaments: 6 players per table 2 advance per table in the preliminary rounds, 1 advance per table in the semi-finals Starting bankroll - $5,000 Minimum bet - $100 Maximum bet - $5,000 Dealer hits soft 17 No surrender Re-buys - not sure Number of hands per round - 25 Countdown after hand 23 Cards - 6 deck shoe Wild Cards usually drawn throughout the tournament Sometimes the Flamingo Tournaments are well run and other times it is a bit chaotic - depends on who is running the show. They have been known to reduce the prize pool if the minimum players requirement is not met - in this case 400. When you check into the hotel, the registration clerk will give you (ask if they don't volunteer) a sheet detailing the Tournament registration times and location. When you go for the Tournament registration you will be given your first round table assignment and the rules. GOOD LUCK to you. There is such a thing as beginners luck in BJ Tournaments so maybe it will happen to you.
thanks for the info.. exactly what i was looking for.. hands/round.. numbers advancing and if they do a countdown.. no elimination hands throughout, ala UBT, that you know of?
As far as I know, the UBT format is no longer played at any Brick & Mortar casino as of the date of this post. If most of your on-line play has been the UBT format then you may have a hard time adjusting to conventional tournaments. You may find yourself being too aggressive.
The Flamingo's time schedule varies from tournament to tournament. The exact times will be given when you register at the hotel. From past experience and generally speaking: Normal Event Registration - on the day before tournament starts: 2:00pm or 3:00pm until 6:00pm or 7:00pm Late Registration - One hour before first round begins First Round of play: Could be as early as 9:00am - or ??? When you call to reserve your room and a spot in the tournament, maybe they can provide more accurate information.
Flamingo's tourney I'll be there... The Flamingo runs a first rate tournament. I like playing in Harrah's/Flamingo's tournaments. I have played in quite a few of these tourneys. Registration is 4-7 pm the night before and late registration is an hour before tourney start. Starting time for first round is usually 11 am. Normally two players advance from early rounds and 2-4 wild cards selected for second round. Sometimes wild cards are selected for later rounds, but not normally. Winners (2) from first round tables advance to next day. Usually these winners will get $50 for advancing. Some of the tournaments have rebuys of $250. I have also played in Harrah's and The Rio tournaments with rebuys, but no rebuys from The Flamingo. They will reduce the pot.
