    Hey -

all you players from the San Diego/southern Cal area - at the Golden Acorn tournament today - we had only 55 players - total - this is now a $10,000 tournament - with buy-ins/rebuys at $25/$25 - and for todays tournament - they lowered the buy-ins to $10!!!!! - this is a big time positive equity tournament - they are subsidizing the hell out of it right now - it is definitely worth a one hour drive from San Diego to play in - or an even longer drive - check out the tournament schedule and see just how many weekly or monthly tournaments have a $10,000 prize pool for a $25 buy-in - this is one of the best bargins you'll find - if they don't get more players - they will cancel this tournament at the end of the year - so let's see some players there -

Tournament is usually on the third Saturday of each month - may be moved if that conflicts with other promotions - dates can be checked on the golden acorn website - but they don't post July promotions until July 1 -

format is win a qualifying table to advance to semi - win a semi to advance to final - then final table pays all seven - 1st is $5,000 - 7th is $200 -

can double after splits - split cards up to 4 times - except aces - only one split for aces - only one card to aces - double on anything - no surrender - BJ pays 2-1

lots of rebuy rounds may be available - depending on number of players - they will wildcard players into the finals if needed to fill up table - today (well - now yesterday) - they wildcarded 4 players into the final table!!! - they won't run rebuy rounds unless they can run off seven tables - to fill a semi table -

each round is 21 hands - with a count down after 16 hands - they start you with $200 bankroll - $5 min bet - no max -

tournament starts at 3:00 - registration is from 1:30 to 3:00 - have to join slot club to register -

you get a $5.00 off food coup[on with the buy-in - also - they are running a promotion - where they record 'points' for each player in each tournament - 5 for buy-in, 20 for making a semi - 200 for winning the tournament - etc. - and the 84 highest point totals at end of year - over all the BJ tournaments - gets an entry into a special tournament - where the winner gets a Ford F-150 pickup -

nice people running the tournament - nice dealers - pit boss - food ok in grill - 2 for 1 steak and chicken special for $14.95 - pretty good - bring a friend and put your coupons together -

    anything else I should mention???

living in Yuma - there are not a lot of tournaments available - I work full time - so travel options are limited - having a $5,000 tournament available in Yuma - and a $10,000 on a Saturday afternoon only a couple of hours drive away - so very nice - Yuma tournament fills up in winter - gets few players in summer - last summer they canceled it for several months until the snowbirds came back - golden acorn will cancel after end of year - unless they get more players - their GM doewsn't like bj tournaments - wants to move the bj tournament budget to other purposes - so I was told - neither tournament advertises much - Yuma only locally - and golden acorn not at all -

I seriously want to see both these tournaments survive -
