I received my mailer from Fort Sill Apache today. It says the Sunday freeroll has a new format. I am curious if anyone knows what this might be?

    Thanks!

Starting BR 500. $25 gets you 4000 more (optional). 10 hands. 2 advance. 4 wildcards. Carry over chips to 2nd round. 12 hands. 1 advance and 3 wildcards to final table. First round, sign up starts 3pm. First rounds 2 tables 7 players,5pm to 7:30 every half hour. We use to play up to 6 times to try to advance. Now it has gotten more people playing, so for example tonight I still got to try 3 times.

There is a change. Your $25 optional buy in has gone up to 10000 extra chips. They have been having a lot of players not buying in and playing for free. They have ruined their Sunday tournaments again. Like before it's not worth buying in more than twice because of the low prize pool.

Well, they got another new tournament format. I don't even know if this one will last to the end. Starts Jan., every Wednesday, sign ups start 3pm, play starts 5pm, 7 tables 7 players, 7 hands, $20 buy-in, 200 starting chips, can rebuy 6 times, 1 advance, table winners (7) each Wed. advance to finals. The finals 8 weeks later 7 tables 7 players, 7 hands. 1st-$777, 2nd-360, 3rd-240, 4th-170, 5th-70, 6th-60, 7th-50. This tournaments has a lot of faults. The Sunday tournaments are failing, I don't think this is the fix. Just made it a whole lot worst. I know some players that will rebuy all 6 times (all in bust out rebuy) and buy their way to the finals. The other 99% of us might try once. If they have just full table buy ins they will collect $6860 at least. Pay out only $1727. Why do these casinos keep going the wrong way?

  6. Weekly BJTs

A few years ago, the Kiowa had two weekly BJTs (Sun and Mon) that seemed to work well. I know BJMailman remembers them. They had $20 buy-ins and two or three $20 rebuys. They were the carryover/accumulation format and had a $3K payout, $1K for 1st down to $100 for 6th or 7th. I believe new management killed it a little more than two years ago. What a shame. I was willing to drive 100 miles one way to play them.

I assume you can only qualify once for the finals. It seems to me that if you wait a few weeks a lot of people will have already qualified and it will improve your chances to win the table, because there should be empty seats as the regulars qualify.

Of course, the first week of this format may not be full. The tournament payout is not worth a bunch of entries.

The 7 hands format reminds me of a cruise tournament and the strategy is usually just all in for a few hands and hope that you are the lucky one.

Actually most cruise tournaments I have played in use a high chip count to determine who goes to the finals and this tournament is not doing that.

Your strategy should probably be determined by where you are in the betting order on the first few hands. I am assuming there is nomax and 2-1 BJs. If you start off as one of the early players you may want to make some type of temporizing bet to see what happens. If you are one of the late players, you probably want to go opposite the other players to try to get a swing one way or the other.

The card being handed out for the 777 tournament is lacking in some info. The 7 table winners go straight to a final table and play for the prize money posted. Those 7 players also qualify for the last Wed. in Feb. $7777 ?. Enter the tournament gets you 1 hour, final table 2 hours, and win 4 hours for the next quarterly. A lot of questions are still unanswered and the women who has been running the last few tournaments is running this one. The second tournament my not happen if they don't get enough participation.

Something else. If all your chips are in the circle you can rebuy $20 to double or split.

The first Wednesday the 7 tables filled quickly. The second filled 6 tables (tournament at other casino) so they took one wildcard. I made the final table so I advanced to Feb 23. If you make it to the final tables more than once you can give your extra seat away. I'm thinking sell it for $60 at least. A husband and then his wife won the last 2. I didn't think so at first, but this is a fun little tournament. With the all in and rebuys it does get interesting. Some people have more money than sense. Pick your table you want to make your move on.

I just found out that the winner each Wednesday goes to Feb. finals only. So you win (you can win more than once) then you're playing for $7777. Payout 1st-7th unknown.
