Congrat's to Gayle who won her second $1,000 online tournament in a roll.

She is fast becoming the Queen of the online tournaments and one of the top female players for land based casinos as well.

    You go girl!

Yes indeed, congrats to Gayle. I competed against her on the semifinal table in this event, finishing second behind her. Then she went on to defeat the GameMaster in a head-to-head match for the $1000 first place.

And, she did the same thing last month. Nicely done!

    Hardly the Queen but Thanks!

On-line tournaments move so fast that it seems I hardly had time to breathe...let alone think. I'm still not sure I remember the final few hands but I seem to remember that Ken pulled a 3 on his 17 on the last hand and made me sweat bullets!
I'm still hoping for this kind of good fortune in a land based tournament!

Congrats to "LuckyGem", Gayle's GP nickname. She beat me in the semi-finals this month (and last also) to go on to face the GameMaster and beat him also in each of the past two months. She played very well.

I played much more aggressively than usual this month instead of my more characteristic $1 a hand for the first 25 / 30 hands and got caught in a hole well below the $100 in starting chips. I tried to slowly dig out of it (and almost did a few times), only to get buried alive early.

Aggressive early betting strategies seem to work best when you're dealt good cards!! :)

    Semifinal details

I know exactly how you feel. I'm a seasoned player at land-based tables, and I rarely get very nervous. But playing online even for relatively small amounts is still nerve-wracking for me.

    Some details from the round:
Gayle swung the table on the next to last hand, which gave her a considerable lead. The bankrolls going into the last hand were something like $130 for Gayle and $82.50 for me. I don't recall Tom72's bankroll on the hand, but I think he was somewhere in between us, around $90. I wanted to bet more than my deficit behind Gayle, so that I could win and beat a push. I made a $50 bet, also thinking that I would be able to double for less if appropriate. Gayle bet a reasonable $51. I think Tom72 took the low, with a smaller bet.

As soon as I made the bet, someone on the chat pointed out to me, half joking I think, that you can't double for less in this game. Oops! I think I would have bet $50 anyway, but it's a tougher choice then.

When Gayle and I were both dealt hard 17s (dealer 6?), I couldn't afford to stand, so I hit and drew a 3 for 20. If the dealer made a 17,18,19, or 20, I would have won the table. If the dealer made 21, I think Tom72 had the low and would have won. Gayle needed a dealer bust, and got it.

It was an exciting finish, and a hard fought round. Xanax provided fireworks throughout, getting in early trouble, recovering for a while, but faltering near the end. Tom72 also had early trouble and was all-in several times before actually leading for much of the second half.

I'm unlikely to be able to participate in the upcoming Nov 13 Multi-Player event due to a schedule conflict. But I'll certainly be trying to qualify for next month's GMO event again.
