I really enjoyed your format and while not perfect yet it was /is a well thought out system of games and specials...

The short time I played there I really enjoyed it.

Can anyone with a non-US account play while physically in the US or will they be prevented from doing so based on the IP address they would be assigned while there?

 

Hi Babj,

We do not prevent Non-US players to play while they are on vacation.
Purchases would be a problem if you use a Credit Card from the country you are visiting (country other than yours).
Therefore, if you use everything the same as before and the only thing change is the IP it shouldn´t be any problem and you can keep playing as usual.

Rando, I appreciate the great comments and I would love to see your name in our lobby, but for now we do not accept US players. I wish I had a better answer to give you.

Minimum 50 to 65?

What's happening with March tournaments at Get21, minimum participants are set from 50 to 65? Must be a mistake, these attendances almost never happen yet...

Agreed. The jump in the minimum is not reasonable.
It would have been a lot smarter to decrease slightly the guaranteed amount or add a dollar or so to the buy-in. 40 players is probably the average size of the player pool for any given tournament. Building profitable traffic without the US component is obviously a challenge.:sad: :sad: :sad:

 

A step in the right direction for Get21/GP

Looks like Get21/Golden Palace have reconsidered their minimum player requirements for their guaranteed tournaments. They now require 35 players and while they have increased the buy-ins, the tournaments still offer a nice overlay to the players. Nicely done.

Games cancelled all the time, now can't retrieve my account or register for games. Maybe it would be time to open your site to U.S players???

 

I doubt thats gonna happen any time soon.....Golden Palace just closed its Poker game to US citz 2 day ago.

Not surprized ...in fact I never undestood why they shut off BJ but still allowed poker for US players....now they have nothing available...

but still the good games are cancelled. Obvious reason : the pool of player is not big enough. Too bad. It's such a good game

 

I thought that the strategy of raising fees slowly every month worked well, but obviously the march raise is too high to maintain the small pool of players.

As an example, the 1000$ guaranteed tournament entry fee (without the rake) was 4$ in October, 8$ in November, 10$ in December, 12$ in January and 14$ in February. That worked well to maintain the pool of players but unfortunately the pool did not grow enough to "absorb" the new price of 25$ for March, which is now a higher fee than UB/Bet21 (which is 20$ for the 1000$ guaranteed).

There appears to be no appetite on the part of Get21/Golden Palace or Ultimate Bet/Bet21 to grow the online BJT player pool to a point where the number of players would support a profitable BJT tournament at reasonable entry fees. Both sites appear to have given up.
Of course, the US Dept of Justice position on online gambling did not help.

 

Well...in all fairness....I think GP/Get21 really tried but this US ban is tough to overcome. They have developed a great game and format actually Im surprized that the whole rest of the gambling world beside US wont play these games...maybe the truth is that the game cant be supported...

Personally ....I think they would all succede but the time line is longer...these games wont take off in months but rather years....who knows if they have the commitment for that long?

Bet21/UB is different situation....they still have US players but seem to attract only a few from across the "pond"...another surprize to me...

Its still all to new to proclaim a death sentence to any of it....Its not an overnight success....but what really ever is??? Start ups take time to model and remodel and promotion is tougher than anyone can imagine....its hard getting the word out....but once it does ..well then you have success...

I dont think we going to see EBJ go awy anytime soon ...its just too good of a game, idea and model....frekin US govt slowed it down but they didnt kill it...nor will they ever kill poker......its like trying to ban alcohol....lol

My grandfather lived during prohibition....he claimed it evetially became easier and cheaper to get whatever booze your heart desired....that was a dumb idea and so is this law...

As for me.....Im still playing until they pry this mouse from my hand...

 

Two entries...two Canadians

for Sunday March 4 $500 Guranteed, one of the best games at Get21. Only Zweeky and me showed up.

Where were the Europeans? Well, they were either playing a $50 MTT freebie (39 players) or registering for the last game of the night across the pond, a $5 giveaway (73 had already entered the last time I checked).

This is ridiculous. The $500 Guranteed has excellent EV (first place $200, second 115) for a $12.50 +1.25 investment.

Also, the Monte Carlo Promotion (another freebie March 11) already has 253 players officially entered.

C'mon guys, this is a business. We have to contribute in the real money games if we want the freebies...or, put more simply, if we want this beautiful game to survive.

I know the U.S players (enough of them anyway) would undoubtedly contribute big time to make that site profitable.

New Guaranteed Prize Pool Tourneys at Get21/GoldenPalaceBlackjack

The minimum player requirement has been decreased to 35 for all guaranteed (GRNTD) prize pool tournaments as of March 2nd 2007. The recent changes are due to the re-adjustment of our offerings in accordance with industry standards. The game room is proud to have provided such exciting tournaments at such a low introductory cost since it launched in October 2006. The reality though is that such low costs cannot be sustained indefinitely. In order to continue its software development and to ultimately provide better entertainment to its players in the coming months/years, the game room must be more financially reasonable. As more and more players sign-up, the game room will be able to re-invest its earnings into more freerolls and other promotional tournaments. Rest assured...the best is yet to come!
