I've seen both in Email and in online info at Global Casino that the Sit & Play tournaments are supposed to be free today. But when I try to enter one they want to charge the regular entry fee! What's the story here?

    Still free,

What they mean by free sit n go's is the house (Global-Player) will not be taking there usual entry fee of $1 per. You still have to put up your prize money, but not the entry fee.

    Play money sit & go

Has anyone suggested to GP to allow for play money sit & go? Most of the poker sites let you play with play money so you can get some practice at a game before you sit down with cash. Why not allow it for blackjack?

One of the drawbacks is someone playing wildly since it is play money, but if you limited a person to a fixed play money account per month, then they would run out of money quickly and would have to learn to play reasonably or bust out quickly.

    Wild play

Practice rounds are not a bad idea, but as far as wild play you'll find that in the live game now. Yesterday I was tired and started betting crazy, (just messing around) but their are several that start out betting big in these tournaments all the time.

It is all part of the game and you need to learn how to play those players (Rabbits or Steamer) as well as the (Turtles and snails) slow players.

I vote no on this idea, at least at the current time. Why? I think it woud dilute the player pool for the paid Sit and Gos, and we need every player we can get. If we get to the point where there are paid events running 24/7 with no waiting, I'll say the freebies might be a good addition.

Having said that, I've been absent from the tables far too much lately. Maybe I'll get back in action later this week. Funny how lack of a day job hasn't improved my schedule a bit. I feel busier than ever, even though I can sleep till 10.

    Dilute real vs new players

    Ken,

I agree with your general premise that it might initially cut into people playing for real dollars, but I think most people are hesitant to put money on the line at something they have no experience at. If you allow them the opportunity to try it for free, they probably would become hooked and move over to real money to put their newly acquired skills to the test.

I know that is true with me and learning to play poker. I have never played the game until about a month ago when I took up learning by reading and finding a poker site where I could play for free. After I got comfortable with the structure and how to do the mechanics, I was willing to move to real money. After just a couple of tries I won my first S&G single table event. If I had not had the opportunity to learn without putting money on the line, I am not sure I would have been as interested in playing. (That is not totally true, I would probably have given it a shot, just been a lot poorer from the learning curve.)

Now I find myself more interested at higher limit tables because I know the games will be tighter and more "rational". I don't find myself getting beat by some guy going to the river and drawing a straight with two low unconnected unsuited cards when I hold three kings.

I think the same would be true for tournament blackjack.

    Just my two cents.

    Adding more tables...

Why not add a few more tables, such as $5+0.5....

I have noticed that most of the players are from U.S.
There is almost none from Europe...At least there is
no play at daytime here in Europe

I think there is a big potential for new players,
but the problem is that only a few know that
    it exist...

More aggressiv marketing is what we need in my opinion
