Can a person win more than one cruise and if so, is it transferrable as well as avialable in cash? If one were to buy the cruise package is the cost exactly the price of the cash equivilant?

    Good questions

Actually the tournament prizes are based on the number of entries and re-buys for each tournament. Hopefully the attendance will be big enough to cover passage for two on the cruise should the winner choose to do so.

I decide to just give cash away over passage on the cruise to increase participation in the tournaments. I fiquried everyone would play with cash prizes, however anyone not taking the cruise would stay away from the tournaments if they only won passage.

So yes to your question Bradley, you may win more then once and receive cash everytime. I also hope that the first prize will be enough to fully cover passage for two and the taxes. If not it should be enough to put a good dent in the total price.

    Congratulations to

Luckygem who won the first cruise tournament. We ended up with about 40 players today which was a nice turnout with so many players gone to WSOB qualifiers today.

We will try and host these cruise tournaments twice a month from now on. I will put up a poll to see when most want to play, but for now we will be hosting them on the 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month at 3:00 pm EST.

Thanks to all that played today and thanks to Daniel (Pumi) at Global-Player for all his help putting this and future tournaments together for us.

    Yes I know, Superbowl Sunday!

Before anyone starts screaming about the next cruise tournament being on Superbowl Sunday, don't worry.

I am going to have Pumi start the tournament one hour earlier on Feb. 5th, (2:00 pm EST) four hours before the start of the game.

I understand this still maybe a problem for some and I'm sorry, but we already set the dates for the tournaments (1st and 3rd Sunday every month).

I am hoping for an even bigger turnout next time then the 40 we had. Somewhere around 60-65 would be nice.

With a $1,500 + for 1st prize, not bad for $40 entry. And Global-Player is throwing in an extra $400 in bonuses.

I am also trying to get Global to give a early sign-up bonus. Sign-up for the cruise tournaments a minimum 5 days before and get $5 off (or something like that).

Hope to see yo all there.

    Time change

Global-Player has changed the time to 2:00 pm EST for the Sunday, Feb. 5th cruise tournament so there won't be any conflict with the Superbowl.

I will send everybody an e-mail the day before just like last time. If I don't have your e-mail and you want to be contacted please send me a private message with your name and e-mail so I may put you on my list.

How can you call this a cruise tournament when you do not guarantee a cruise, just whatever entry fees are paid into it? It seems to be just another tourney.

    Would you rather....

What is more appealing winning a cruise or CASH!

Think about all the players we would lose that can't go on the cruise or don't like cruises. Everybody likes cash, if you win cash you can pay for the cruise.

That is what I want a chance to for the players to win the funds for the cruise. The best way to do that is draw the biggest crowd into play.

Which way do you think will draw the biggest crowds?
    Cruise or Cash?

I always try to make any of my tournaments VERY PLAYER FRIENDLY! I hope I succeeded in doing so on these online tournament as well.

Any suggestion to improve them just contact me, I am always open to new suggestionn when it comes to making a better tournament.

How can you call this a cruise tournament when you do not guarantee a cruise, just whatever entry fees are paid into it? It seems to be just another tourney. By calling this a cruise tourney, you are implying that you will win a CRUISE. And this is not true as you do not give a cruise to the winner, did the last winner get a cruise or the cost of the cruise in cash? Guess I am playing in poker tourneys where the prize fund is guaranteed or even $ added to the prize fund and do not usually play in low equity BJ tourneys where nothing is guaranteed.

    Low equity?

These tournaments payout 100%, plus they have $400 add to the the prize pool by Global-Player.

How did you come up with low equity?

To your question did the winner get enough to cover the cruise? She won $1,040 and the cabin cost is $390 per person plus tax. And that was with only 40 players, most of the regulars were at WSOB qualifier in Ute mountain.

As far as the name "Cruise Tournament" make of it what you will. Does a casino give out presents at their Christmas tournaments? How about at their Valentine Tournaments, do they just award cards? Think about what your asking, most all tournaments award cash prizes.

Now do I make them buy a cruise with their winnings? No, it is their money to do with however they want.

If anybody would perfer winning the cruise instead of cash just let me know. If wecome up a little short we can just cut the seconary prizes if that is really what you want.

Like I said "I have very player friendly tournaments" I'll let the players vote on what they want.

    Global Cruise Tournaments

I agree 100% with the format and tournament awards Rick (TXtourplayer) and Global Player Casino have agreed upon for the cruise tournaments. By playing (winning) you have the option to either join the cruise or bank the money won, you are not locked in either way. LuckyGem who won the 1st tournament was not quaranteed an expense paid cruise I agree but now has an expense paid cruise (if she elects to join) plus about $600 cash at her disposal. I among others did not play last years Global Cruise tournaments because in January? I didn't know if I would be available to join the cruise at the selected dates. Winning an expense paid cruise and possibly not being able to go due to commitments/events unforseen 6 months in advance kept me on the sidelines last year. With a $400 overlay this year for each tournament and my choice of cruise or cash, no matter the number of participants, count me in.

I guess the use of the word "satellite" throws me off as in poker a "satellite" tourney means you earn entry into the event (in your case a cruise), but not just one person wins, since the cruise is $390, for every $390 collected in fees a cruise would be given out. In poker if $1950 were collected in entry fees 5 cruises would be given.

    Really

Last weekend while in Tulsa I was watching a one table satellites for entry in the Oklahoma state championship next month.

The cost was $30 per player with 10 players per table. The casino brought in $300 dollars on the table and only awarded a seat valued at $230. The casino made $70 off that one table in less then an hour.

Now that seems like low equity to me.

Most single table poker satellites I have seen or heard about only pay the winner and only pays for entry into a bigger tournament and the casino takes a cut out of the satellite event.

Once again that sounds like low equity to me.

If you play poker on the regular tables the casinos takes a rake (EVERY HAND). Except at Indain casinos (antes) you don't have that in blackjack.

Again that sounds like low equity to me.

Now maybe I am wrong, but I bet every casino makes money off almost every tournament they run or they wouldn't be running them.

Yet you have a problem with the cruise blackjack tournaments being run or at least named the cruise tournaments even though we payout 100% + $400 extra in bonuses. Why again?

Bottomline is if you enjoy poker over blackjack you should stay with poker and stop worrying about the blackjack cruise tournaments, at least until you start playing in them.
