    More info

I just registered for the whole month and saved $10 off of the $100 total entry fees. The way I understand the prize structure is it is a 100% payback tourney plus you get your entry fee back if you come in 2nd or 3rd in the semis. I believe the format is the same as Ken's Freeroll except that they are taking up to 125 players. (and of course, it's not free!).

Low signups so far for tomorrow.

Tomorrow's inaugural event in the new weekly Wednesday tournaments at Global Player starts at 3 PM Eastern. The format is set for up to 125 players, but under 40 are registered as of tonight. Get going. Remember, if you sign up for all four weeks before tomorrow, you get all four for just $90.

I'd probably do it, but that's 2PM here and I would need to keep my job to be able to afford it.

    Job conflict

I hate it when work and tournament schedules interfere! ;)

I expect many players may have trouble attending a Wednesday afternoon event. Maybe we should recommend Wednesday nights for February.

Wednesday is the worst day for me. Work all day and then bowl in the evening. At least till April.

    Who won it?

So, who won the inaugural event? I had to leave after bombing out of round 1.

    winner

The finals were very tight. I finished 4th for $290. Yakarus finished first. Other finalists were CubFan, KMAC, & digi699
Things continue to improve with Global Player. I do not know of another tournament site equal to them in their software and the wonderful people who are so friendly & helpful. It is a pleasure to play there. I hope a lot of other sites will follow their lead. :)

    Wouldn't say bombing out

Ken didn't bomb out, he was very unlucky. Large bets made with 20's and 21's only to push with the dealer was he down fall.

I agree with Springbac though, Global has brought us all a chance to play a REAL BLACKJACK TOURNAMENT FORMAT online. I meet with the CEO of Global and am hoping to start hosting online satellite tournaments for the Cruise I am planning 2 -3 time per week. I hope to be able to offer a cruise for two for as little as $25 - $40 entry fees (depending on number of players). The tournaments won't start until late Jan. or early Feb.

I talked to Daniel from GPC about the tournament dates. I also dislike Wednesday 3pm Eastern (9pm here) - had to shift my whole regular week schedule. However, sometimes you have to decide what's really important: I made it :).

Daniel said they would maybe offer different tournaments for "European" and "American" time zones. As far as I know the guys from GPC, they have a lot of ideas in their drawers, and they'll turn them into reality soon.

However, I wondered today how many Americans can manage to play Blackjack at 3pm. Are all of you pros?

Tx, do you have details about that cruise? I read through the thread long ago but considered that the expenses are too high for me (cruise fee plus satellite flight from Germany). However, in the meantime, I guess I'm addicted enough to give your satellites a try...

    Cruise tournaments

The final plans for the cruise should be made by next week. The tenitive plans are for a Oct/Nov. cruise from San Diego, CA. It will consist of a two night stay at the Barona Casino (San Diego) and a special BJ tournament on the second day. We will be shuttled to the ship the following day for a 4:00pm departure on an 8 night Mexician Riviera cruise.

Note the blackjack tournaments will not be held in the casino on board, but in one of the ballrooms so we can run the tournaments the way the players like.
And the HELL with GRIFFIN, all are invited to play in these tournaments (we'll just throw any cheaters overboard...LOL).

Cost are looking like around $725 per person including all fees and taxes (for inside cabin) based on double occupancy. $890 for Ocean Veiw, $1,015 to $1,105 for balcony. These trips include your food and entertainment (other then gambling or tournament entries).

This is way I love the idea of satellite tournaments at Global for $25 - $40 entries, a player can win an inside cabin for two for little to nothing. Any players that put down their deposit for the cruise any then win one of the satellites will receive their deposits back 100%. Also anyone that wins the cruise can still play other online events and take the cash should they win again.

I am looking at hold the cruise to 180 to maximum 300 players for the first one. All the players I talked to relly like the concept (the cruise idea was give to me by Kevin Blackwood).

As soon as I get the deal done I will post all the information.

    Global Player Wednesday

    Ken,
I may be dense but I don't understand the entry fee structure, it states 05.01 $10.00, 12.01 $20.00, 19.01 $30.00 and 25.01 $40.00, does that mean you have to continue to add funds to play even if you qualified to advance or are the additional funds rebuys to continue.
    Thanks

Four events, four different entry fee amounts

    These are four separate events.
The first, already past, on Jan 5th had a $10 entry fee.
The entry on Jan 12th is $20.
The entry on Jan 19th is $30.
The entry on Jan 26th is $40.
(Their site has the wrong date for the last event. I'm emailing them now.)

If you prepaid for all, there was a $10 discount.

Last week, the first week, had about 60 players. It was a good tournament, well run, continues to improve the software, & a lot of fun.

How did it go today? I was going to see if I could watch the finals but it looks like everything is finished already.

    It was fast today!

Hell it went so fast I was through after only 20 hands...LOL. All kidding aside it did go smooth today. We only had 51 players, three rounds and it was over.

Congrat's to BJSWEETIE (Regina) made the finals. We keep kidding her about playing without a reader.
