I just posted info on a tournament at the Golden Nugget in Laughlin - registration is Friday, 18 Jan 2007; play starts on Saturday - prize pool is $20,000, but is not guaranteed. Buy-in and rebuys are $50.00 - Casino room rates are available to players, call 702-714-4185 for reservations.

Aquarius was and maybe still is running a 25K$ monthly guarantee at 50$/50$ price and grabbing about 80 players during warm months. It is an invite/open game. So, for GN to pay the 20K they are stating 120 players needed. Im sure with the snowbirds in town the 120 player target will be hit or very close. It look like GN is matching the buy ins for this game because buys and rebuys should equal about half the 20K$ advertised pay out.

    Golden Nugget tournaments

Both Las Vegas and Laughlin are hosting January 2008 blackjack tournaments.

    Las Vegas is the 4th - 6th with a $50,000 prize pool.

    Laughlin is the 18th - 20th with a $20,000 prize pool.

Also the Laughlin property will be hosting a $20,000 slot tournament after the blackjack on the 21st - 23rd.

    Can't make any of them...

I wish I could make all 3 Gold Nugget events, plus the Planet Hollywood tournament. Also they are hosting several nice tournaments in both Tunica and Biloxi in January, but I won't be able to make any of them.

Next events I am planning on going to is the Blackjack Cruise Jan. 26th out of New Orleans.

Wish y'all could make the cruise tournaments.

Good luck to all those playing in the above mentioned tournaments.

    Interesting development on the river

I have not received my Jan/Feb mailer for GN-L. Probably wouldn't be any details in it anyway. But a $50 entry tourney sounds about right to me.

I did a Golden Nugget-L tourney in Oct 2003, that was a $25k and $250 entry event. First and only time I coughed up more than $20 for a BJ tourney. They gave us two nights and fed us a couple of times. But this was still under the MGM/Mirage ownership. Since then we did the Tim&Tom thing and now Landrys.

GN-L is still a fine joint to hang out at...best standard issue room on the river. I stayed there a couple weeks ago and was given a fourth (top) floor riverview room. Trouble was they are totally redoing the pool area, so the jackhammers were out. NO waterslide through the sharks are planned, they are going to be done around mid-January.

The Colorado Belle website just reduced their January rates down to $18/39 for the uncomped.

Pioneer, a hop skip and jump from Laughlin Gold Nug, is holding one of their popular VP tournaments same weekend as GN BJT. Not sure if playing times will work out for BJT'ers to play both. Maybe it will or friends or family will want to try the VP game.

<$250 entry fee entitles the player and one guest to: 3 days, 2 nights room accommodations, Boarding House coupons for Dinner Buffet on Friday, Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner Buffets on Saturday and an awards Brunch in Granny’s on Sunday. The player will play three 20-minute sessions of tournament play on Saturday.>

Just called into Pioneer. The VP tourney will be three 20 minute sessions starting at 9am thru 2pm Saturday. The seating will be designated by "blind draw"

The GN BJT starts at 9am Saturday. Doesnt sound like it will be possible to play both.............

Riverside has about the highest weekend rate in Lauglhin at 75ish walk up. So I bet the GN rate for this tourney is half or better.

12 $ savings what deal! lol. Last trip into Laughlin I wanted to take family out to eat. I have the Barney Suit at Riverside so tried the restaurant there. All 1 hr wait. Drove down to Colorado Belle, no go 45 minutes and we are hungry. Walk to Pioneer for a Buffet at least half hour. Walk into GN ghost town. I person playing BJ. Very nice casino. Walk down to Joe's Crab Shack, (not affiliated with JoeP) and get a seat right away. If GN wants to garb players why leave the rate so high? At least 50%! Altho I bet with a little side action GN will comp like crazy.

BTW, Pioneer has "standard" motel rooms that should be cheaper compared to 69$ if you want to save a couple bucks. The River Palms is about the cheapest stay on the river and a close walk as well. Not that the rooms will compare to GN which scores the best reviews in Laughlin.

    Hang your hat

I will repeat, the Marnell's will put you up for $18 and $39 a night at CB (probably EW too) through the online system.

You can walk this way, checking out the other stuff to do on the river:

    www.laughlinentertainer.com

Click on the casino in the banner to take you to their website.

Click on Entertainment for tourneys and promos.
