Just posted on their web site; Golden Nugget - Laughlin is running a bj tournament Friday, 20 June - Sunday, 22 June. This is a $20,000 tournament; buy-in is $50. Not bad. I played their last ones, two back to back $10,000 tourneys for $50 buy-in each, and thought they were pretty well run. Not sure if money is guaranteed, but think it might be. Last tourneys drew well - so if not guaranteed, still should be a good pay off for the entry. Call 1-866-714-4185 to register and reserve a room. They have special rates for the players.

Pretty sure I'll make this one.

Same dates as the Pioneer tourney, which is $200 for whatever they collect. This seems like a much better bargain. While the casinos are next to each other, very easy walk - I think I remember the last time this happened, the GN was not at all accommodating to players trying to do both tourneys.

    Of course, GN-LasVegas is running a $50,000 tourney for $100 buy-in on 6-8 June.

    follow up

the rack rates for the GN-Laughlin are $60 for Friday and Saturday and $30 for Sunday - according to their site - they do say they have special rates for tourney players - so should be a little cheaper even -

Most Important - the GN tourney is a two day affair - so only one round on Saturday - so -should be able to play both Pioneer and GN - as Pioneer is Saturday only -

the entry fee was 25.00 for each 10K tourney, not 50 for each. i played them both.

    you're right

I was thinking $50 because I registered over the phone and charged to credit card....$50...but that was for both tournaments, $25 each...

Last tourneys were $25 each for $10,000 each prize pool -

these are $50 for $20,000 each - still - a pretty good bargain compared to many - Yuma tourneys are $30 with $20 rebuys for a $5,000 prize pool - and we can get 150 players here during the winter - record set this past February, 168 players - so - these GN tourneys look good to me -

    Golden Nugget - Vegas

I one I played had about 200 players, buy-in was $100, rebuy (one available) was also $100, Prize pool was $50,000. All rounds were single advance - first round tables had 6 players, second round tables 5, and semi-finals had 4 players per table. Wild card drawings were done, including one player into the final - to make 7 players at final -

well run tournament, some very good players were there -

If interested, worth doing - I would call to register in advance - and get room reservation - should be some kind of post in the events calendar

    GN-L $20,000 Grand Slam

    RK-

Thanks for posting this one. It seems GNL is going a differnet direction in marketing from their normal longstanding "Insider" mailer. After six years or so I didn't get GNL mail. Hell I didn't deserve it anymore. but GNL VP has gone to hell...compared to the other river joints.

RK, the Jan/Feb weekend BJ tourney ( I can look it up) was a $50 event for $10k, I didn't play. The March/April event was indeed two seperate $25 events, I did play. One of you must have been at my first table that tourney...the old free hit came in being on the button, and I got a comment from spot number 3. I had 17, but had to beat the chip leader's 18, and maybe some other action past him. So I doubled on my 17, going all-in...and got a "good move" from a knowing player.

The flyer does state "based on 120 participants" in the finest of fine print under the final table schedule. I do believe this is the first time I have seen GN-L put in this clause...good or bad. They are once again encouraging early registration with 5x$50 drawings for showing-up at 4-6pm the night before the tourney.

With two days of tourney action they can easily do 200 entrys (initial and rebuys) if they so choose. They did what 150 (6 spots x 5 tables x5 rounds) in one day last time. This was for a $25 buy-in...collecting $3,750 and paying $5k a day...for two days Thursday and a Friday.

This looks like a fine tourney to me, if I can score a comped room on weekends somewhere on the river. It will not be at GN-L, based upon my recent play.

good that you're going to Laughlin - hope to see you there - I'll be there - wasn't sure till this weekend that I would be able to make it - think I will try to play the Pioneer tourney as well -

if you spot a senile old duffus pretending to know how to play tbj - that will probably be me - so come over and talk -

Oneeyed, I hear River Palms is paying people to stay at their hotel even on weekends :), if you have play at the Pioneer your $220 buy in will get you about $130 in comp value, about $100 for two nights rooms plus about $30 in Friday buffet for two people. So the effective buy to the tourney is $90 with probably a $7000 first prize and guaranteed 200$ if you advance from first round. Of course there is some risk playing two tournaments, GN and Pioneer, during same day. As you know the front door of the Pioneer is less than 5 minutes to the GN side door and pit.

Also, if you have play at the Aquarious they are running a comp/open BJT and a call to the ACE Club could get a room and a BJT for free.

There are 3 BJT's in Laughlin that weekend, GN, Pioneer, and Aquarious.

    Great

Be good to see you there Mrospi - I''m signed up for the GN - but will try to do the Pioneer as well - think I will get registerted at GN and get as early a table as possible - then run to Pioneer and try to get a later starting table there - GN is doing $69 nights, for Friday and Saturday - and I think it was $24 or $29 for Sunday - they graciously comped me one night - I have never stayed there - but have played slots with my sister and brother-in-law there on rare occassions - it is the only place they will stay in Laughlin - they have much more class than I do - I will stay anywhere I get comped - but when playuing a tourney - will pay to stay at the tourney hotel - just for the convenience - if I get an affordable rate
