Based on earlier posts, I guess there are quite a few posters who will be at the Gold Strike this weekend. Best wishes to all. Hope the action is the final round is as hot as the the temperatures in the Northeast this week. Looking forward to seeing many a "war story" posted next week.

  2. Y'all all be safe and have a large time. I wish I could join you but tomorrow is our first day with students and missing it wouldn't look good. I saw casino jim at the Pearl River tourny Tue. and he mentioned that he was going. Made me jealous.

    Good Job All

    Congrats to all 3

Did it turn out to be a good EV event or did they not add money to cover the comp players into the event

:joker: it was a wonderful will run tournament, with good EV. It was originally booked as $125,000 tournament, with $50,000 first-place. That was change to a $65,000 first-place 31,002nd and other amounts as you have seen posted below. Participants from this site and global player, were well represented with three players at the final table.
Applejack is a relatively new player who has been playing on line now for less than two years. But she is a really quick study and is playing well, as evidenced by her big win.:joker:

    Very good tournament

They did add money to the orignal prize pool. Normally Adolf will take very good care of his players and this tournament was no exception.

Only two problems that I heard about was:

    1) the regestration line was to long, they need to split it up into about 3-4 groups (a-f, g-l, m-r, and s-z). We talked to Adolf about this and don't be surprized if it is not corrected by their next event in about three months.

    2) the wild card for the finals was delayed because of a slot system malfuction on the casino floor and several players were detained (stuff happens), but instead of just have the players wonder, Adolf made an annoucement prior to the scheduled drawing and let all of us know what was going on.

That is all we (the players) want is to be treated fairly and informed, Adolf and the rest of his crew did a wonderful job, see y'all in a few months.

    Thanks Gold Strike, well done!

    Interesting Gold Strike note!

Amy, (Applejack) wasn't signed up for the tournament until Saturday. With only one session left in the first round she decided to get in. Actually she was the last player to sign up for the event.

Nice $500 investment, she turned it into $31,000 return in less than 24 hours, nice work if you can get it.

    Gold Strike

The Blackjack tournament was well run and due to the BJT publicity the turnout was better than they expected. Unfortunately Adolph has changed the tournament to an accumulation qualification format just as he did when he was at Bally's and Sheraton. Many players complained about the format and several stated they won't enter future tournaments at G.S. if they stick with accumulation. The $500 entry fee is too steep for a turkey shoot tournament.
Good Luck to the Cruisers and Millionaire Makers this week.

    Congrats to All

Congrats to Applejax, Swog and Springback on making the final table. That's quite an accomplishment, especially considering the number of players in the tourney.

Congrats also go out to my girl Stormy who made the final table at the WSBJ qualifier in WA State yesterday. Yesterday was definately a good day for folks from Global and Blackjacktournaments.com.

And now on to the cruise tourney next week. Oh yeah.

This question was sort of answered, but I want to be sure everyone is clear...

The Gold Strike paid $500 into the prize pool for every comped entry. The event was a true 100% equity event. Adolph and crew did an outstanding job and they announced that they plan to do this event three times a year.

    Thumbs up!

Just a footnote about the final table at the Goldstrike. Springback and Swog were BR2 and BR3 (don't remember which was which) going into hand 24. They both could have coasted into one of the top/middle spots, but both elected to go for the gusto. Both went max(all in- in the case of Springback) to attempt to move to BR1. Cards weren't there - but they both played for the win. Congrats to them and to all the winners!

Congratulations to Swog, Springback and especially to Applejax, on making the final table! Applejax were you "forced" to enter the tourney - or was it done on a whim? Way to go...:)

If I remember correctly, drbass is right. Applejax was in last place when the countdown came. At that point, every player at the table bet big to go after the leader. Fortunately for her, she was acting last, so she was able to get the second low, and still make a sizeable bet to keep pace (around 1500, I think). Very few hands, if any, were won by any of the players after that point, so it worked out great for her. I thought it was the perfect move. (Not that I'm biased or anything...:D )

  17. Congratulations for some outstanding play to all. It's great to hear such good news.

    napodot,
I originally only planned to go down with utvolfan (my husband) for friday night and part of saturday, so i didn't even consider playing. We played some poker with our good friends and won some babysitting so it worked out that they could keep the kids that weekend last minute. About an hour before the last session started, ut, txtour, and tgun strongly encouraged me to play, and then when my husband pulled out the cash to pay for it, i figured why not...so, it was both forced and a whim :)
