Is anyone else playing in this tournament? I'm getting a run around from the reservations department over there. The $250 entry fee is supposed to include 2 nights hotel stay but when I call they say "nothing available" as far as rooms go. However, if I call and don't mention I'll be playing in the tournament they tell me there are plenty of rooms available. As soon as I mention the tournament they put me on hold then come back with "sorry, nothing available". What's this all about? Is this standard treatment to tournament players? -Teddy
Typical This is not unusual behavior for the Grand. Could be because you don't have a history there (or worse, you do). Regardless, I'd keep calling til you get someone to sign you up. Or just show up Fri. for registration. Another trick if you don't have any history there, call and talk to a host. A good routine might even get you comped in.
more info For those of you that don't need a room for the weekend, I was told tonight (Thursday) that they will reduce the entry cost for this tourney by $100.00.This had been the rule rather than the exception in years past. Signup is Sat. at 12 noon (?). Also, the rooms are for Saturday and Sunday night (At least they were last time). I post this with the disclaimer that the Grand could change their mind about the reduced price on Saturday if they don't need the rooms. Walt gives good advise about talking to a host. You 'Really' never know..
