The Grand Casino Tunica is hosting another BJT with registration beginning 9/27/07. I posted the limited information I have on the CALENDER.

They are apparently changing the format and have reduced the prize pool by 1/3 to $100,000 while keeping the entry fee the same at $500.

    Wtf????

What is going on in the TBJ world?

Rick has his TBJPA event scheduled on a weekend with nothing else.

Then up pops the Imperial Palace

    Now the Grand in Tunica?

What's wrong with these casino directors? Why would they put on an event at the last minute (The Grand in Tunica) when there are already several events going on?

What I'm getting at is this: Any event worth 100,000 or more, has the potential for a regional draw. Usually the 50,000 and under events are for the local markets and possible regional but 100,000 and above has a much wider draw potential.

So what gives? Why host the Tunica event with only 2 weeks to go? There is very little on the calendar for October. Don't you think you'd get a better draw in October than competing against the IP event?

    Sorry

    Toolman

Thanks for the update. I didn't mean to sound ungrateful - I am. I just find it frustrating that there are several "bigger" events all taking place at the same time.

So Ken will YOU be attending this event at the Grand?

The Grand as well as most major casinos plan their events on a yearly basis.

    fgk42,

No offense taken. I understood exactly what you meant from your first post on this thread. pokernut pretty much summarized the situation. Events are generally scheduled many months in advance and it's generally for the casino's convenience, not ours. The Grand, for example, announced in June that their next tournament would be in Sept.. The thing that puzzles me is why do the casinos', at times, hold off on the announcement and only give the players 2 or 3 weeks notice? Something to ponder while you're trying to sleep tonight! :D

In that case, why don't they (the major casinos) announce them far enough in advance?

With less than 3 weeks to go it really cuts down on a persons ability to do this "last minute" events. Or is that just the norm?

So, considering the fiasco at their June tournament, does anyone have any information on the Sept, 2007 tournament -attendance, how well run, casino personnel attitudes, who won some money, anything else?
