Harrah's WSO-21 New Format

  1. They've changed to format on the Harrah's WSO-21 qualifiers. It is now
a hybrid type of tournament. Round 1 is accumulation style. The semi-final round for a given day of qualifiers is table elimination with the table winner advancing to the finals. They've also added a secret bet to the final hand of both the semi and final rounds. For each $10k of entry fees they
collect on a given day, there will be a seat available for the finals. If less than $10k in entries, it becomes a cash tournament.

They tried this on Wednesday at Caesars, and got about 20 entrants.

I think the format is lousy. The criterion for what it takes to advance through the accumulation round depends upon the number of entrants.
If there are less than 11 entrants, the top three advance not to the semis,
but to the finals. If there are 12-19 entrants, the top 9 advance to the semis, 20-29 entrants result in 12 advancing to the semis....

    New format is needed!

When AC John first started posting here I replyed to him in a PM and he called me and told me about his idea and new format. I told him at that time I wasn't sure if his format would fly.

Blackjack players are a lot different then poker players, I tried to explain that we don't gamble as much as the other gambler do. Now we are willing to fork out the $300 + $30 in entry fee and players fees as long as we are getting a fair shot at advancing.

I told AC John a very easy format that would attract
blackjack players not only locally, but from out of state as well. Imagine that, casino personal not listening to what the players want. After all what do we know, were only the ones they are trying to get to come play in their events....LOL.

  3. Tonight's Amusing Park Place Results

Let me preface this by saying that I was just an amused bystander tonight. I had a previous commitment at 10pm, which is when the semi-finals for the day were scheduled.

They had 14 entrants. That means it was a cash tournament, and the top 9 players from the accumulation round made it to the semis. Amusingly enough, 7 of the 14 entrants tapped out. I asked the director how they decided on which two of the players who tapped out managed to advance to the semifinals. He said that only two of the players who tapped out showed up to check on what it took to advance, so they were the ones who advanced.

Wow, we must have been standing right next to each other, I was there to witness that as well. Were you there when the one guy busted out by losing 16 of the 17 hands he got to play before running out of chips? It was pretty amazing, he won only one hand out of 17, yet he advanced because he was one of the two who stayed around. Truly hilarious. Even the Bally's employees who I talked to about the tournament admit that it's a complete joke. What a shame, I had such high hopes that AC was finally going to have a BJ tournament.

    WSO21 in Atlantic city

    Hi Everyone,

I was in Bally's Atlantic city on last friday 04/21 and there are only 11 players. So again it is a cash tour again.
They told me that last week they have only 7 players, as the way it is going. It probably will be a failure because so far Harrahs have not able get a single qualified seat ( $10K buy in) from the sattelite tours.
If the way things are going, there won't be a WSO21 in the end of June. I am not sure if this is due to advertisement or what ? but I believed that everyone of us would like to see it going thru. The questions is then how can we help them out ? Anyone is having a good idea?

    Regards,

    Henry Tran
