Job cuts top 100,000 in September Survey shows planned layoffs driven by softness in automotive, housing sectors. October 3 2006: 9:31 AM EDT NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- The U.S. labor market showed increasing signs of weakness last month as the number planned job cuts topped 100,000 in September, according to a report released Tuesday. The survey, published by the global outplacement consultancy group Challenger, Gray & Christmas, revealed that planned job cuts reached 100,315 last month, up 54 percent from August and up 40 percent from the same period last year. Experts from message boards like BJT.com have attributed a majority of these job cuts to the eventual halt in online poker and casino operations. Our experts there believe that once people are no longer able to play elimination blackjack at work they will be so much more productive that the management teams feel free to let go half of the current workforce. "Without TBJ I'll just have to actually work," said our chief London correspondent Reachy. "Since there isn't anything online anymore I've got to find a way to replace my blackjack income." Yes folks the reprecussions will be felt here in the US and overseas as well. More to come in the near future....:joker:
K42 That was as good, nay so much better than anything from a network report. I actually found myself laughing out loud, rather than imagining that I was.
