For ease of future reference, I started this thread for those interested in discussing this event. Discussions on the the Calendar category on the forum tend to get lost "in the shuffle". My question concerns the Harley being given away as first place prize. I guess there is a guy there who usually offers to buy the Harley from the first place winner. Does he offer a good price or is it heavily discounted? If it's heavily discounted that reduces the value of first place to a non "rider" which in turn affects the SV and EV.
Harley If I won it, I'd keep it. One of my life's goals is to ride a Harley from one end of the old Route 66 to the other.
Harley I'm not a biker but I have aquaintences that are and they tell me there are no longer waiting lists for new Harleys like there were just a few short years ago. Naturally this lowers the value in itself. I know the individual that has purchased some of the bikes from past winners but have no idea what was paid for them. With a depressed market, he certainly wouldn't pay full retail price and I wouldn't ask him to. Maybe 20% less? (20.5% less to Monkey) BillyC
Another Date Question In the July, 2009 issue of the magazine "Midwest Gaming & Travel" they list the HAWG WILD BLACKJACK TOURNAMENT AS AUGUST 8, 2009. This is 3 weeks later than the information posted on this forum which said the event was to be July 19, 2009. Can someone clear up the date discrepancy? Also, the magazine says registration starts at 8:00am and play starts at 11:00am. This is an hour earlier than their prior tournaments and what is posted on the Calendar on this site. Again, does anyone know the right answer?
July 19 As of Thursday June 18 the flyers on the tournament desk at Ho Chunk said July 19 with registration at 9:00.
Thanks for the update. I'll trust their own flyers as opposed to a magazine article. Not sure if I'll be there but at least I know the date.
Your Bike! They already have "toolman1" embossed on the sides of the Harley so you gotta be there! Per usual, Monkey is correct about the date and time (July 29, 9:00 AM registration) and the event calendar is right. The girls that run their tourneys are typically very good at the details so I'm guessing someone else posted that erroneous date that you saw. BillyC
Pitch Tournament??? I just got my copy of the official “Hawg Wild” rules today. They read suspiciously like a pitch tournament. Can I get a Ho-Chunk regular to confirm or deny such allegations? EE
Most of their non-weekly tournaments have been shoe games. However, they have had 2 deck "pitch" tournaments on occasion so that would not be a surprise. How about updating the Calendar posting of this event with the information you have?
What me contribute in a positive way to this forum??? How about I keep it to myself and actually walk into an event with an edge???  J.K. it has been done!
Anyone got results from this one? It sounded like there were several midwest forum members at this event. Anyone want to own up to a new orange and black 1200 Sportster. I managed to get to the semifinals but couldn’t catch a hand for the last five and ended up with $25 left, what happened to the 84% chance of winning 1 in 3. Anyway, I still had a lot of fun and met some really good players and really nice people. I thought it was well run tournament and plan on making it back for a few weeklies to defend my honor. EE
Not a member Bike was won by a local that couldn't come up with $680 tax money required to accept delivery of it as of two weeks ago. Another example of people gambling that SHOULD NOT BE!!!!! Billy C
