Saw this in their web site so I e-mailed for more details. Going to Madison next week for a meeting and plan to give this a shot. Anyone have experienced with the previous tournaments? Since this is for a limited number of weeks, I have not added it to the tournament schedule.

I've been to their weekly tournaments many times. It sounds like they have the same format. Make sure you familiarize yourself with all the rules, because they have a few unusual ones. If they're the same as when I went to my last weekly a couple years ago, they have surrender except against dealer ace, and 2:1 payment on suited BJ's, among others.

There's only one rebuy opportunity and they sometimes sell out the first session, so that not everyone has a chance to rebuy. If in the opening round things are going slowly on your table and it looks like lots of players will still be there on the last hand, you might want to consider going for broke earlier. That way you'll either take a huge lead or bust out and ensure yourself a rebuy opportunity. I always checked at the registration desk right before game time to see how many second session seats were already sold.

The tournaments are very well run and they're sticklers for the rules. They especially enforce the string bet rule. In spite of that they manage to maintain a relaxed, friendly atmosphere.

A preponderance of the players will bet the maximum on the last hand no matter what, and double aggressively on the last hand. In the one-advance semifinals a lot of the players get really aggressive. Be patient.

I can't make it there on Thursdays. I miss their tournaments...

    Good luck!

    Changes

They no longer offer surrender. Also no 2:1 payoff for suited BJ. Average 1st place prize is around $1200
I'm hesitant to praise Ho Chunk for anything but I must say they do an excellent job on these mini tourneys and they pay back 100% of entry money.
